How does Proteus Relative To Auto Work?

When selecting the “Relative To Auto” setting under Proteus I understand that settings will be determined automatically while factoring in slider settings.

So when the sharpen slider is increased for example, it would factor in that you would like that level of sharpness.
But when a particular slider is left at the default 0, does that mean it interprets you would like none of that slider (for example no noise reduction) or is 0 telling it to determine noise reduction automatically. Hope that makes sense.

I wish you could turn off sliders.

It continuously evaluates what settings for all the sliders it should be using. (The same thing that happens when you click ‘Estimate’ in manual mode.) Then it adds the percentage of what you put in the slider. Example: If it estimates that Sharpen should be 10 and you have the slider set to 50, it will increase it to 10 plus 50%. So it applies 15 to sharpen for the frames that got evaluated to 10.
Leaving it at 0 just means full auto for that slider. -100 should be turning it off—but not for Anti-alias/Deblur. How could it? That one can evaluate to a negative number.

Maybe someone from Topaz can explain if Anti-alias/Deblur somehow works the same or not. I just looked up the official explanation that I had found before… and it’s been removed.

From the movies I have tested, Relative to Auto is basically useless because I need Anti-alias/Deblur to be on or near -80 and there’s no way to get it to be even close to that.

Thanks very much for explaining , that’ll help me understand how to work with it in mind.

Yeah I agree, being able to turn off individual sliders would be helpful.
