How can I make a mask from whitespace in an Impression image?

Hi,

In Impression, you can choose the original image or a solid color to show through the gaps between brush strokes.

I would like to make a mask of the gaps between brush strokes. For example, suppose I set the background solid white in Impression. How can I make a mask of those white areas?

A related question is, how can I make an image become a mask, or use an image as a mask?

Best regards

As far as making a mask of the white bits I would guess that if you open the masking tool and paint over the white bits with a black brush but as the actual mask is only a very small area it would be extremely difficult. You could try using a luminance mask and see if that will mask the white bits but as I have never tried this I’m not at all sure if it would work.
