I have the latest version of Photoshop (22.0.1) and just installed the next update to Gigapixel (5.3.1) running on Windows 10. All my other Topaz products appear on the Filters tab but not Gigapixel. How do I run Gigapixel inside PS?
It works differently from the other plug-ins. In Ps go to File>Automate>Gigapixel AI.
Thank you. Found it.
Mike
I use the plugin via the automate option in Photoshop. Current Photoshop Version (v25.7) and Topaz Gigapixel 7.13. Photoshop Crashes Everytime when i try to export it back to photoshop. Isee a new layer in the layers panel but it’s just empty. it hangs and then Photoshop just crashes.
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling with the installer but no change.
Had 7.03 before which worked fine. Is this a known issue and when will it be addressed?
p.s. i’m using a german version of photoshop, don’t know if maybe that is causing the problem?
This is not a known issue.
Have you tried to use Gigapixel as a standalone, and does it cause problems for your machine when you use it that way?
it is a known issue- I have EXACTLY the same problem, and its now 29 October 2024
im using photoshop 26 release and topaz gigapixel 8.0
please let us know what to do
hey topaz!
I have a great clue for you- why photoshop crashes-so you can work on it
when I export image to topaz thru photoshop, topaz opens upscales the image then crashes photoshop.
solution… I open the image again in photoshop- flatten all layers- call it a new name, then export to topaz again - then it works- so…its something to do with layers or even the name of the file- get on it!!
Infortunatley this did not solve the problem
Same issue here. Photoshop 2025 and Gigapixel Ai 8.0. Photoshop crashes every time I have invoked the plugin. Please help, because now I cannot make use of Gigapixel. I do not want to use the stand-alone version.
I purchased the upgrade today, installed the new version and yes it crashes my photoshop every time I invoke Gigapixel . The plug-in starts, does the rendering and when you return to photoshop it crashes.
I have done a bit more work on this. Upgraded my RTX460ti GPU to the latest version of SW. No change. I then went into Gigapixel and changed it to CPU. Processing takes heaps longer but eventually fails with the same issue. So it is not a GPU issue. I then tried to use gigapixel in standalone mode . That works. I am running this on a windows 11 system (i9, 64G memory). I am using the latest version of Photoshop.I have tried it on raw files, jpgs and all have the same issue. I also tried to copy the layer to a new file and then use the plug-in.
I have the latest Photoshop version and the latest Gigapixel version. I cannot bring Gigapixel into the photoshop filter menu. I have tried the File/Automate method in Photoshop and Gigapixel appears there but it is greyed out and inaccessible.
Hi.
You have to select an active Layer other than the Background Layer which is locked for Gigapixel to work from the File Automate Menu
In addition, if you were able to select Gigapixel from the Filter Menu because of restrictions you would be unable to Upscale your image hence, why Gigapixel is only available from the Automate Menu
Hope this helps
Hi AND-E,
Yes this has helped enormously and has fixed my problem. Don’t know why this little tid-bit of super relevant information isn’t more easily discovered within Gigapixel. In any case, I’m so very grateful for your advice.
Cheers
Hello!
After a successful installation, Gigapixel can be accessed from the File > Automate menu action when an image is open and an unlocked layer is selected.
If you do not see the option appear in the menu, follow these steps:
- Close any Adobe apps and quit any Adobe background processes
- Download and run the Gigapixel installer and choose the option to Repair
- Launch Photoshop and test the menu again to find Gigapixel
Make sure your operating system and version of Photoshop are up to date.
