I’m having the exact same issue. Keeps aborting the download as it’s SO SLOW! I literally cannot download Video AI. not impressed at all. I just bought a new computer, so need to instal on this machine, i remember my old machine was exactly the same issue months ago when i first bought Video AI. Terrible service considering how much they change for these apps.
Same issue here from Germany. Trying to update from Photo ai, download speed is 3MB/s max, ETA 5h 50m. Same situation directly from website.
It’s a shame for the time this issue is reported already.
Some model files in Gigapixel AI are very large, and download errors may occur if your internet connection is unstable or your system security settings interfere with installation.
Recommended Steps to Resolve
1. Ensure a Stable Connection
- If possible, use a wired Ethernet connection to prevent dropouts during large downloads.
- You may need to repeat these steps if your connection is inconsistent.
2. Check Your Security Settings
- VPNs, proxies, firewalls, or antivirus software can silently block the model download process.
- Temporarily disable these tools and add exceptions for:
topazlabs.comtopaz-labs.net
3. Use the Repair Option
- Run the installer again and select Repair. This will trigger a redownload of any missing or corrupted model files.
4. Confirm Model Download Settings
- In Gigapixel, go to:
Preferences > Settings > General - Toggle “Enable in-app model downloads” OFF, then back ON.
- Fully quit and relaunch Gigapixel to test.
Related information can be found in our troubleshooting models article.

FYI - I picked the Ignore option, and the Gigapixel appears to be working as expected. yeah!

Hi Stephen.
I’m afraid all you’re done is merely hide the issue it still exists under the hood.
The issue occurred because, the models were unable to Download and Install correctly because, the connection was interrupted during the Download and Installation process because, you probably have an active VPN, Add Blocker, Firewall or anything similar connected to your Antivirus software temporary disable one or all of the above then, try again should resolve this issue
Hope this helps
Thanks @AND-E -
Well, I’ve installed the new version on two of my machines, both running on the same network and same configuration. This only seems to be happening on the one machine, which has a GPU. I would expect if it were Firewall or Ad Blocker related, I would expect to see the same systems on both machines. I did compare the models listed at C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel\models from both machines. My main machine (non-GPU) doesn’t even have that model (irwn_dit-v1-fp16-128x128.onnx) listed. There are no irwn_dit-v1-fp16* listed at all. I will try and review where it might be blocked, but both machines are on the same network, same os versions and same rules. I’ll let you know how I fair in finding a cause.
NOTE:
I think I have it fixed… I backed up all the irwn_dit-v1-fp16* first, then I replaced them with the same named models on the Gigapixel AI Beta. I no longer get any errors, and processing seems to be working fine.
Sounds good but just incase you experience any more issues here’s the link to contact Topaz Support directly

Hello everyone,
I’m facing a persistent issue with Topaz Gigapixel AI v8.4.3 where the rxl_embed-v1-fp16-77x768-ox.tz2 model file downloads incompletely at 234MiB instead of the expected ~480MiB. This is causing an “OpenCV Exception (-212): cv::YAMLParser::parseValue” error when using the RecoveryXL model, and I can’t process images in generative mode.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
- Multiple full reinstalls (cleared C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel AI and reinstalled).
- Updated GPU driver (NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti, v581.29).
- Used aria2c with aria2c -x 16 http://models.topazlabs.com/v1/rxl_embed-v1-fp16-77x768-ox.tz2, but it still downloads 234MiB and throws an error.
- Tested with VPN and different network settings, but no luck.
My system:
- GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti (11GB VRAM)
- OS: Windows 11 24H2 (Build 26100.1742)
- RAM: 16GB
I’ve already emailed support@topazlabs.com with logs, but I’m hoping the community can help faster. Has anyone successfully downloaded the full ~480MiB version of this model recently? If so, could you share a working link or workaround? I’d really appreciate any advice to avoid more reinstalls, as it’s been costly on my internet bandwidth.
Thanks in advance!
I have to ask, what makes you think that file is supposed to be 480MB?
Both the versions in my GP AI and GP Studio installations are 234MB (I also have a Pascal gpu), and the version in an old model folder backup (from 8.0.2) is also 234MB.
The file size of the download link in your post is also 234MB.
Thanks for your response! I appreciate you checking the file size in your installations. I assumed the file should be ~480MB based on community discussions (e.g., some older forum posts and Reddit threads mentioning larger model sizes for generative modes like RecoveryXL) and the fact that my incomplete download was causing an “OpenCV Exception (-212): cv::YAMLParser::parseValue” error. If the official size is indeed 234MB now, that changes things, and I’d love to understand why I’m still getting the error.
- My setup: NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti (driver 581.29), Windows 11 24H2 (Build 26100.1742), Gigapixel AI 8.4.3.
- I’ve reinstalled multiple times, cleared all residual files (e.g., C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel AI), and tried downloading with aria2c, but the error persists with the 234MB file.
- The error occurs specifically when using RecoveryXL in the preview stage, suggesting a possible issue with the model file or its integration.
Since your installations (including the old 8.0.2 backup) also show 234MB and work fine, could you share if you’re using RecoveryXL successfully? If so, any tips on setup or troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated. I’ve also contacted support@topazlabs.com, but I’m waiting for a reply.
Thanks again for your help!
Best,
Unfortunately, I have a GTX 1060 which doesn’t have enough vram to use Redefine (RecoveryXL) now. It used to partially work (low creativity only) upto the 8.0.2 version, but after that the vram requirements increased. Higher creativity never worked.
I remember from the beta testing on pc at that time, it only seemed to fully work with RTX gpus. I recall an AMD user (6800XT), @Fotomaker, also not being able to use the higher creativity options. I think the situation with Apple hardware was also complicated.
I don’t know what the current status of local rendering with Redefine is, but suspect it hasn’t come out of beta for a reason. AMD and Pascal users might still be in the same situation.
RTX users normally have different model files that utilize the tensor cores.
That’s so funny, I was just reading along thinking my AMD RX6800 XT GPU couldn’t handle Creativity levels above 2 either and then saw my name! Well, handle..,
AMD processors don’t seem to be able to handle the more demanding AI models. And, Topaz doesn’t seem to have been able to code around it. So I had my Win 11 PC (expensively!!!) rebuilt to an NVIDIA RTX 5090 in July this year and was able to run models I previously couldn’t run with the AMD GPU.
Unfortunately, for some odd reason, I see in the Changelog for at least one of the Studio products that the Ps Plugin doesn’t work. My entire workflow is in Ps. So, I won’t download until that’s fixed. I have no idea why it isn’t working when all prior releases & the beta issued 4 days before the Studio rollout (!!!) had perfectly fine working Ps plugins. Jeez.
I keep getting the dreaded blue bar, it moves pretty quick but when it gets to the end, just freezes. I close the screen and got these error codes about downloading models.
irwn_dit-v1-fp32-128x128
gfrf-v2-fp16-1024x1024-ov

Hi.
Here’s a link with some information from Topaz that might help resolve this issue
Hope this helps
Downoload of this component is not possible for me. Download stops.
Review troubleshooting for model download errors
Just installed latest version. Tried to open an image - says models need to be re-downloaded but app freezes without doing anything.
Hi.
Sounds like Gigapixel hasn’t installed properly in the first place do you by any chance have an active VPN, Add Blocker or anything of that nature connected with your Antivirus software.
Simply disabling one or more of the above and Reinstalling the Application usually works
Here’s some information from Topaz about this issue
Another possibility could be a System Requirements issue
