Guidance | Disable Face Recovery

Gigapixel worked always dandy before but since the last update which I applied today all of the models have zero effect, as if completely ignored. What’s going on?

EDIT: Rather what I noticed is that the base models do work but the advanced models (Wonder, Standard Max, Redefine Classic, etc.) all produce a blurry 2x upscale from a 1024 image which looks like basic linear upscale in Photoshop. It seems these models either don’t work or they don’t work like before when I had very good and sharp results.

My suspicion has been confirmed …
Check these two images:
(Old) Gigapixel AI Redefine Realistic:

New Topaz Gigapixel:

The difference is very obvious.
Why is Topaz Gigapixel so much worse?

Hmm, did you try with Face recovery strength in TopazGigapixel (new) also set to the same low amount of 20 as you have in Gigapixel 8?

Turn off Face recovery if you want to do an apples to apples model comparison on an image that’s ‘all’ face.

Face recovery essentially overwrites the face area of an upscaled image with its own output.

Interesting! Turning off face recovery does indeed make a huge difference with face-only images. Thanks for the hint!
