Gigapixel v8 won't start - even "as administrator"

Subject says it all. I’ve had several versions of Gigapixel on this computer - uninstalled them all - uninstalled and reinstalled v8 - still no luck.

Bought it yesterday - hey Topaz - clock is ticking (now down to 364 days of use) - I bought something that doesn’t work.

Same. I have not been able to get any of the v8’s to work, now on 8.0.3. It installs, but never opens - the process disappears after a second from the Task Manager. Calling from Lightroom has the same result. Topaz Photo AI works fine, though.

Lesley - tech support sent me these instructions a few days ago, and it worked for me (“if this does not resolve the issue…”)

Hello William,

Josh here, from the Gigapixel team 🙂

This known issue affects Gigapixel users who upgraded to v8 from an earlier build.

The following steps should resolve this issue for you.

  • Right-click on the “Topaz Gigapixel AI” shortcut on your desktop.

  • Select “Open file location”

  • Right-click “Topaz Gigapixel AI.exe”

  • Select “Run as administrator”

  • Click “Yes” when asked, “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”

Here is a video demonstrating these steps!

After completing these steps once, you should be able to run Gigapixel from your desktop shortcut by double-clicking, as you typically would.

If this does not resolve the issue, you can try a fresh install of Gigapixel using the steps below.

  1. Delete Gigapixel folders and data.

A.

  • In the search bar type “run” and hit enter.

  • In the text field next to “Open:”, paste "C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC" and hit enter.

  • In the folder that opens, right-click the folder “Topaz Gigapixel AI” and select Delete.

B.

  • In the search bar type “run” and hit enter.

  • In the text field next to “Open;”, paste "C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC" and hit enter.

  • In the folder that opens, right-click the folder “Topaz Gigapixel AI” and select Delete.

  1. Delete the Gigapixel registry entries.

  2. Restart your machine and download a fresh installer for Gigapixel from the “My Products" page.

  3. Once downloaded, open Gigapixel as a standalone and ensure it functions correctly.

Thanks William. Unfortunately, these didn’t work for me. We’re now on version 8.1.0, and still nothing on the PC. I appreciate your forwarding those suggestions, though!
