Gigapixel v8.4.3 - v8.4.4

I’m honestly surprised it took them this long to get on the subscription train. Not that I enjoy it, I think it’s all a racket. I’ll gladly just use 8 until infinite. The upscaling it does is good enough for anything I’ll ever do.

Hi all,

Waited quite a while before updating and it’s sad to say, but it will probably be my last one. Topaz has chosen a different path with a new strategy: subscription. I’m guessing that the small users – including me – will not join Topaz’s new program.

Here are some results of my all time favorite actress. (I’m using the same picture for testing for continuity. For reference, I used the same picture, upscaled in my favorite version of Gigapixel so far: v 7.1.3. After that, things went downhill (to much focus on the face, not enough focus on the rest).

So what has changed..? Well, apparently not a great deal. The results are pretty much the same, I would say. (well, at least they came to their senses)

But I haven’t tried Model Setting V2 yet. Maybe that’s the game changer..?

We’ll see…

Well… I can be brief about this one (Model Setting V2). Yes, it’s quick. But it’s no good. At all.

Hi.

Appreciate plus sympathize with what you’re saying and admittedly if you were sign up for the Subscription Model you wouldn’t be able to keep that version once your Subscription ends.

However, did you know you’ll get seven applications including Topaz Photo, Topaz Gigapixel and Topaz Video plus extras for less than the purchase price from a few years ago now of the original DeNoise, Sharpen and Gigapixel AI combined and the price is locked as long as you maintain your Subscription

Hi,

That’s the same trick as Adobe pulled a long time ago. I only use about four of their programs – and it feels like they make me pay for everything (which they do).

So how much is that according to you..?

A quick calculation shows that an active subscription to Topaz (Studio) would cost me $ 99 (Gigapixel AI) + $ 149 (Photo AI) a year. And that is just not going to work for me. Or am I mistaken?

For me $138 a year as long as I maintain my Subscription with an active Auto-Renewal Subscription for Photo AI and Gigapixel which, gives me the complete Topaz Studio

Bear in mind, they’ve asking for the Upgrade Auto-Renewal price not the standard Upgrade price or full price to qualify.

Once it’s gone it’s gone

Thanks!

How did you know about this price, since Topaz wasn’t able to tell me beforehand…

Because, Topaz has stated you need to have Auto-Renewal active to qualify and they said your current price is locked in

Also, I hasten to add my Auto-Renewal price was already locked in because, I signed up for the initial Auto-Renewal Subscription if, you sign up it could be a little different a few dollars more

Well… a few dollars more. It will get to to $ 64 for Gigapixel AI and $ 99 for Photo AI for me…

Hmm, that is interesting. I also have auto-renewal for PAI and GAI, but my price per year is $176.45.

GAI $69.28
PAI $107.17

I didn’t know that people got different auto-renewal prices.

Sorry for the delay bedtime for me.

Yes so, I did a little bit of digging and the introductory Auto-Renewal price included an extra 15% discount on the regular Upgrade price
Photo AI = $84
Gigapixel = $54

In light of that, it’s still a good deal especially if you factor in you’re also getting Topaz Video and a hell of a lot more besides.

Hi

That sounds a bit off because, the chap above you has been quoted Photo AI $99 and Gigapixel $64.

Where as your’s sounds like the full Upgrade price in which case, I would either double check you have Auto-Renewal active or contact Topaz Support here’s the link to contact them directly

Hope this helps

That difference might come from the newly added local taxes.

Hi Fotomaker,

No implications - 8.4.3 still falls under the perpetual GAI license. This version maintains the same install path but the next release (aka Topaz Gigapixel studio) will be on a separate installer directory.

Sorry for the delay - I have been out of office!

Apologies for the crickets - I’ve been out of office.

8.4.3 has no big implications and shouldn’t affect your current work flow. We’ve added essentially a button in the UI that talks more about Topaz Gigapixel Studio and allows you to learn more before you make a decision about your plan going forward.

Hi Eric - significant shift meaning our company’s transition into the subscription plan.

I could have been a little more clear about that part.

But completely understand the need to wait.

8.4.3 has no drastic UI changes except a Topaz Gigapixel button to explain more in detail about what’s coming

That helps to know. Thx Esther.

hi - sorry about that bug. It was not intentional.

From our devs, it looks like it should be fixed in our Topaz Gigapixel studio release

Hi Paul!

We should have this fixed in our Topaz Gigapixel release.

Hi plq,

I checked into your account and apologies you weren’t informed. By chance did you unsubscribe your email, that may have been the reason you didn’t get it.

However, we are definitely taking in what you said seriously and working to improve our transparency about these changes.

I hope you’ll reconsider using our apps in the future. But thank you for being with us!
