Thank you Gosa. I’m using max GPU too. but topaz gigapixel doesn’t use that much memory of my video card. I will share my render information to topaz team and topaz community soon.
I found that the “missing AVX” is usually caused by wrong/old MS-C++ redistributables. I had that problem both on Win10 and Win11: Removing all MS-C++ redistributables and just re-installing Microsoft’s latest version did it.
All the other release topics are closed and the pinned one about understanding releases is read only, so I’ll reply here:
These are the versions Topaz Labs recommends to use:
Recommendations
If you’re having issues with compatibility, consider the current system requirements and choose an earlier version.
We recommend v6.3.3 for under-spec systems compatible with legacy requirements
We recommend v8.2.2 if you cannot update to the latest build of Windows 10If you prefer functionality from a previous release, use the last feature release that included the functionality you liked better.
We recommend v7.4.4 if you do not want cloud-generative features
If you’re experiencing a bug that snuck into a new release, use a previous patch release that didn’t include the bug, or update to a newer patch that you haven’t yet installed.
We recommend v8.3.4 if you’re experiencing excessive model errors
So if those are the officially recommended versions, then why do Topaz Labs pester people who are using these RECOMMENDED versions with constant update requests?
Why the heck are Topaz Labs constantly forcing update recommendations onto these users within the Gigapixel application in a way that will almost automatically result in an undesired and officially NOT RECOMMENDED update with just one simple erroneous click???
Topaz Labs really needs to remove those increasingly annoying update requests from the recommended app versions ASAP.
Thank you!
Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue when using Gigapixel AI (happens in multiple versions) with my AMD GPU. Whenever I try to use the “redefine” function for a model, the AMD Adrenalin driver crashes and restarts.
The error message I get is:
“Error encountered while processing”
Right after that, the screen flickers, the driver crashes, and then it resets (sometimes the app freezes too).
My system setup
GPU: AMD RX 6650 XT 8GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
RAM: 32GB/NVMe SSD
PSU: MPG A1000G
Driver version: Adrenalin 25.6.1 (WHQL)
AMD Chipset Drivers: 7.06.02.123
OS: Windows 11, version 24H2 (Fully Updated)
BIOS Version: 3802 (latest)
App version (currently): Gigapixel AI 8.4.2
I’ve tried reinstalling the driver and using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), but the issue still persists.
This issue also occurred in previous versions of the app.
It seems Gigapixel AI could use better optimization for AMD users. Thanks!
Yes. I had the same experiences as you using the more ‘creative’ (demanding) models with my Win 11 AMD RX6800 XT system (16GB VRAM, 64GB RAM), Intel i9 12th gen CPU. I couldn’t even update it to the recent AMD driver due to reports re: the instability, crashing, stuttering with that newest driver. I was at the just prior driver and had kept my AMD drivers up-to-date. I use Topaz products as plugins to Ps 2025.
I was tired of feeling like the poor cousin and having to rely on the ‘Cloud’ for processing everything.
I’d planned to swap my desktop PC to an NVIDIA 4090-based GPU like I have in my laptop. But it was impossible to find one. Only option (besides 5070/5080 with slower performance than 4090) was a 5090 (24/32GB - I forget which VRAM). Got it. Will see if it helps vs my prior AMD…I typically wouldn’t go with something so new.
I cannot speak for Amazon inventory. I started by looking there. But the reviews were horrendous and I didn’t feel I could safely purchase there. Two different sellers had 4090’s from two different makers (I believe it was ASUS and PNY). But, I never just buy without reading reviews (never just the star ratings b/c many ppl don’t understand that 5 = Best and 1 = worst…) and seller ratings.
The people who bought 4090’s from those Amazon sellers (there were only 2-3 cards listed when I looked, not large inventories) consistently complained that what they received looked used and, in at least one situation, damaged and the seller was difficult to deal with re: that. The red flags went up and I decided no way was I purchasing there.
I also checked all the websites of all the makers/providers of 4090’s (n.g. - all gone) and even checked with a hair stylist I know whose daughter works for NVIDIA to see if she, as an employee, could get me one. Also n.g. I don’t throw in the towel easily… Going with the 5090 (for the desired perf levels) was the only option I could find. Not what I had intended.
Thx for the pointer to Amazon! Yes, it was my 1st stop in case my custom PC builder couldn’t get one from their distributor.
I hope you have the right power unit and cables for the 5090. ![]()
Yeah. Me too!
Tech maven that I am, I asked if what I had already would be enough for it and the guy replied, “Oh, good question!” Sigh. Then looked something up & told me I needed an upgraded power supply, bigger case (for air circulation), fans, etc. Next I’m building an extension on the house with a raised floor and special cooling system…
and hiring a bunch of glasses-wearing guys wearing white shirts, black slacks and skinny black ties.
When can we expect an update that fixes redefine on Mac silicon?
Seriously!!! I renewed in Feb 2025 even though the new versions didn’t work because I wanted to support the work. We are now in July and have not been able to fully use Redefine past 8.0.2 version. Can I get my money back until this version is fixed for M3 Silicon? I have auto renew enabled still but thats in Feb 2026. If this is not going to be fixed please send me back my money and I’ll cancel the auto renewal. I’m done waiting.
Still waiting for masking to be brought back to Gigapixel!
The explanation that it’s a Photo AI only feature is less than satisfactory…especially since I own both…
Why this has become a sticking point for Topaz baffles me. Just port the code over from PAI.
But for some reason, someone on the Topaz team just ‘doesn’t want to do it’.
What is their beef with masking?

I wonder if the new models will also be compatible with an RTX 3070
.
A quick demonstration of the significant photo improvement I achieved with my Galaxy S25 Ultra. On the left is the original, and on the right is the final shot:
Now with zoom in the photo:
I used different settings of Recover v2 + once Photo AI Super Focus and once Redefine. For the clock, I took photos from the web and then adjusted the time relative to the shot and then transformed it to fit the perspective of the photo. I also adjusted the lighting of the remade clock to match the photo.
Other details really well captured in the photo
another example photo:
Original on the left and final on the right
Same technique used to improve
This is insane
Also, the photos were taken from the Terril de l’Héribus in Mons. For those who don’t know, it’s in the province of Hainaut in Belgium.
I still have more pictures with Amazing but I will show them when it is fully finished.
I dont know if this is the right spot to post but in “redefine creative” when all images are selected it would be nice if one selects low/medium or high that it would change for all selected images.
right now IT DOES NOT! now it have to do this for 300 images 1 by 1!
also would be nice if the text description would be applied to all selected images as well , which it does not do at the moment also.
this function does work in the other enlargement settings
also on my system in “redefine creative” it doesn’t seem to to remember the settings at all ![]()
always reverts back to low
cheers.
A great new diffusion upscaling project has emerged on the open source scene.
Thanks for letting us know!

Currently, only the Stable Diffusion 2.1 base model from HYPIR is available as open-source, with the advanced model restricted to a paid platform. I tested the open-source version locally, and while it performs quickly, the output quality falls short of expectations. Generated images frequently exhibit noticeable blurry patches. Increasing the patch size slightly improves some images but does not fully resolve the issue.
yes but if you change some to medium or high . for me when you go back to those settings they always revert back to low
8.4.2 was released on 6/19.
I am just wondering if development has stopped on Gigapixel AI? Are any more releases planned? Thank you.
Hi! great question!
We are still continuing development on Gigapixel and more releases will be coming!
Thank you for checking in!
