Gigapixel takes hours and fails

I’m simply trying to 2x a 3,000 x 4,000 JPEG with standard settings. First try took hours before I cancelled it. My laptop has 16GB of RAM. I reinstalled and it is still taking forever with no progress. Did I just burn $100 and several hours of my life? What is the problem?

Hello.

Do you meet these minimum requirements (keep in mind that minimum requirements are usually based-on desktop specs and not mobile hardware and the mobile minimum hardware has to be an equivalent to a desktop component (s):

Yes, my computer meets the requirements. I can run Lightroom and Photoshop just fine.

Hi @daniel.ewert ,

… just a hunch… but I wonder if what you are perceiving as slow processing is actually due to the software lacking access to model files required to process your images.

There was a recent issue where the software was not properly indicating that model files are needing to be re-downloaded prior to processing images. In these cases, it just looked like the software wasn’t doing anything or possibly stalling when it should have been successfully processing/exporting an image.

All that to say, I recommend going to the Gigapixel Preferences menu and making sure the “Allow in-app model downloads” toggle is enabled. Once enabled, relaunch Gigapixel and load an image to allow the model re-downloading process to happen.

If you are still running into problems, try reinstalling the latest version of Gigapixel. Be sure to allow ample time for all models to download and install during the installation process prior to launching Gigapixel.

If that doesn’t resolve the issue, feel free to reach us at help@topazlabs.com and we should be able to get things squared away fairly quickly.
