This is a known issue with Windows users where midway through installing 7.0.0, a Setup Failed message occurs with the note: 0x800070643 - Fatal error during installation
We have found that these steps can resolve the issue.
Delete the Topaz Gigapixel AI folder from the default installation path - C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel AI\
Note: If you didn’t install Gigapixel AI in the default installation location, it will not be in the path above.
Open the app Registry Editor by clicking Start+R, type “regedit” and hit enter and say yes to the prompt or you can search for “Registry Editor” in the Start Menu’s search.
Find this registry below and delete
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel AI
Download a fresh installer for Gigapixel AI v7 from our Topaz Labs Download Page
If you are still experiencing conflicts, please send installer logs.
After letting things rest for a few days, I tried again with careful attention to suggestions on the Bugs and Issues forum (folder deletions, regedit item deletions, re-download of installation file, no other programs running).
Result: installation is still failing with “Topaz Gigapixel AI Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error…”
This is on Windows 10.
Setup problem resolved for me.
I downloaded Gigapixel 7.0.1 and it installed successfully on first try. Prior to installation I made sure that the folders inside Program Files and Program Data were absent. I also checked that the entries were not in the registry.
