Gaia High Quality v5

Gaia HQ is by FAR my favorite because it brings the most sense of “that’s not an upscale, it was shot in that resolution natively!”

Just one problem getting in the way: It puts a “layer” of noise or grain over the top of it all. Is there a way to get rid of that?

Thanks!

Don’t try to remove it. It suppresses the noise to make it less noticeable and fill some over-compressed parts with real noise, not the digital one.
If you really want to remove it, then just use Artemis instead.

I do agree that Gaia is the most subtle. For DVD to HD, there’s not enough enhancement for me though. My conclusion is that it looks better leaving it alone because of the extra noise you mentioned.

That being said, I do want to take some time to try a multi-pass approach. Do an upscale with Proteus or Artemis, then 100% with Gaia. Or maybe 150% with those two, then the rest of the way with Gaia. I think it could yield superior results, it’s just a lot more work.
