Fixie - Pontevedra Spain

In the event you are wondering, a “Fixie” is a bike without a freewheel - no coasting brah! As cool as these bikes look and as much as I want one, I’m quite sure I’d kill myself the first time I intuitively and instinctively tried coasting down a hill. Oh to be young and dumb again - or not!

They’re called fixed-wheel bikes in the UK and are the subject of much controversy. The law here requires two brakes on a bicycle but a fixed wheel counts as one brake and only the front wheel legally needs to be braked. Some riders remove the rear brake on these type of bicycles. Great image, by the way.
