In the event you are wondering, a “Fixie” is a bike without a freewheel - no coasting brah! As cool as these bikes look and as much as I want one, I’m quite sure I’d kill myself the first time I intuitively and instinctively tried coasting down a hill. Oh to be young and dumb again - or not!

They’re called fixed-wheel bikes in the UK and are the subject of much controversy. The law here requires two brakes on a bicycle but a fixed wheel counts as one brake and only the front wheel legally needs to be braked. Some riders remove the rear brake on these type of bicycles.
