Just purchased and have a question about selection masks… can I create a mask of an area I want to enhance? Or am i locked into just enhancing the whole image?
Hi Vince.
Gigapixel AI is primarily an upscaling application for the whole image so no this isn’t possible in Gigapixel AI at this present time.
you may prefer Photo AI if you’d like to do selection masks - there is some upscaling capabilities there but it won’t have several of the basic models nor the Generative AI models that Gigapixel has
I purchased gigapixel mainly for the Ai face enhancement tool. I work with a lot of 3d renderings and saw this as a good way to enhance my 3d peoples faces since some times they look off.
Hi.
Gigapixel’s Recover Faces would be ideal for enhancing 3D rendered Faces both with the Realistic and Creative modes
You were originally asking about making parts of the image for enhancement and not the Recover Faces option
As Esther.Huynh pointed out this process would be much easier with Topaz Photo AI
However, I’ll endeavour to answer both questions about Faces and Masking for you
Recover Faces:
With Recover Faces you only have two options the ability to automatically select faces or manually select and deselect individual faces which is a kind of masking
Masking Parts of the Image:
You can not mask the image within Gigapixel itself however, you can mask parts of the image in another application like Photoshop on a new Layer then send the Layer to Gigapixel for enhancing and save back to Photoshop as a composite
Here’s how
-
Crop or Cutout the area you want and place that area onto a new Layer
-
Covert the Layer into a Smart Object / Filter then double click the Smart Object to open it
-
Once the Smart Object has opened highlight the Layer then Goto > File > Automate > Topaz Gigapixel AI to open the Layer within Gigapixel
-
Apply Enhancements as you like
((Being careful not to enlarge the image, otherwise you’ll have to reduce the image in Photoshop to fit the composite.
This is because, you were originally asking about making part of the image not enhancing the whole image))
Then click on the Export back to Photoshop button
-
Once you’ve back in Photoshop close the Smart Object window to save it
-
Finally blend your newly Gigapixel processed Layer back into your image
Alternatively send the whole image to Gigapixel AI for Enlargement and Enhancements then, Edit within Photoshop
Hope this helps
