Retouching an archival photo can take days when you’re consulting with the client on changes and repairs. Right now, each time an image file is closed, we lose our edits and Topaz makes us begin again. We need a new file format within Topaz that can store session information, so we can begin editing where we left off, or even go back to an earlier version of our work.
Right now we have to save hi-quality work files and then stack them in Photoshop to assemble a finished photo – it’s not logical to work this way, and it means we have to pay an Adobe fee each month in addition to our Topaz fee.
So we need a stacked session-file format that can give us the flexibility to go back to previous version and also mask/isolate parts of an image to include in a finished photo. All within Topaz!
Storing information and settings from a previous session is already posable with the standalone version of Topaz Photo AI.
Simply opening, and Enhanceing your image within the standalone version of Photo AI then, after saving your work you’ll be able to reopen the same image within Photo AI at a later date and Photo AI, will remember your previous settings.
I understand, it’s not completely what you’re asking for but, at least it will help.
As for staking previous iterations of your work similar to Layers within Photoshop I can’t see this being achievable because, Topaz Photo AI is an image Enhancer either as a standalone application or as a Plugin for image Editors so, doesn’t have the flexibility of an image Editor.
Having said that, you can easily stack multiple instances of the same Enhancements for example, Denoise and apply different denoising models and settings for different areas within the image and as I previously mentioned save your work within the standalone version of Photo AI and you’re be able to go back at a later time and readjust or add to your previous Enhancements.
Although, not officially supported by Topaz you can use the Photo AI plugin as a Smart Object within Photoshop.
