When you attempt to Export a video more than once (with different settings),
the previous export is being overwritten by the later export, instead of adding a “_1” , “_2” , etc.
How to reproduce the issue:
export a video (e.g. Proteus) and let it complete the export.
export the same video again, but with different settings in Proteus
the original export would be overwritten by the last export.
Akila, sorry for the delay in response here. I have been trying to get back through the forums to check on all the posts and see if they are still occurring.
I ran some tests in 1.0.4 and was unable to reproduce this on my system at this time. I am trying to do the same on a different system using version 1.0.1 as well to see if there is a different result.
Are you still seeing this on your end in your app, either in the same release version or if you have updated to a newer one?
Can you also confirm if you are using the quick export or the Export As workflow?
It still happening all the time in all different scenarios. (even on the new v1.1 Beta)
here is a quick 100% method to reproduce the issue on your rig
let’s say the source video file name is “video.mkv”
export a video (e.g. use prob4 ,manual settings)
while the video is still in processing (video_prob4_temp.mkv), change some parameters in the Prob4 manual mode (e.g. change fix compression from 15 to 25, it doesn’t really matter) and click export again. that will add it to the export Q.
the 1st video will complete (video_prob4.mkv) and the next one will start and will use the same exact name (video_prob4_temp.mkv), when it completes rendering the second video, it will overwrite the 1st exported video “video_prob4.mkv” with the 2nd one.
I like to export my my videos and see the “temp” file at the original source directory instead of it being placed in temp directory 1st, before the copy of the final rendered video to the source file Dir…
It could be that this bug happens only if you do not use Temp dir.
The devs are working on this as we also found an issue where on Windows systems you could inadvertently overwrite the original file using the Export As function, they are working on patching these together and getting them resolved.
