I am new to Gigapixel and I struggled to find how to export my resized images. Now I’ve carefully viewed videos on Youtube and see that they have export buttons but I do not have an export button. I can Save but not Export. I purchased Gigapixel to resize heavily cropped images into JPGs. What am I missing? Why no Export button? I just upgraded to 8.1.2 and still no button.
Hi Mark.
Can you confirm there is no big blue Export Image button in the bottom right hand corner of the Gigapixel interface
See images below
If you do have this button then that’s your Export button.
When you have finished enlarging your image click on the blue Export button a new window will open with options to save your image.
For instance you can change the type of file you want to save the image as
Once you have chosen your opinions you then click on the Save button
Is this the SAVE you’re asking about
The only other save is under the File Menu, when you click on this Save you’ll be taken to the same Export Options as the blue Export image button
Hope this helps
Thanks for your attention, AND-E. I have resolved this issue (raising a new one). I completely uninstalled Gigapixel and re-installed it. The blue button has appeared. Somehow something had gotten messed up in the activation process.
However, I see two versions of the blue button depending on how I run Gigapixel. Unfortunately, the buttons don’t work well in my existing workflow.
When I run Gigapixel as a stand-alone application and select files, I see a blue button as you show in your screen clip: “Export image”. This is just fine and I’m happy. Except that I don’t intend to run Gigapixel as a stand-alone application.
I use Photo Supreme as my photo organizer. (Highly recommended, btw) When I select an image in Photo Supreme and launch Gigapixel as an external editor, the button reads “Export to External Editor” and provides no options for the export. I would like to select a TIFF, upsize it in Gigapixel and export as a JPG. There is NO option to export a JPG when the button reads “Export to External Editor”.
I will explore launching Gigapixel directly from my RAW processor (Photolab) but that would be a work-around for what I wish to do.
Hi Mark.
When you launch Gigapixel as a standalone application you then have the option of Exporting and Saving the Image in your preferred file type.
However, when you use Gigapixel as a plugin it’s the host application that determines the file type and that’s why you’re only seeing Export to External Editor
I’m afraid I am unfamiliar with Photo Supreme so I can’t give you a direct answer.
Here’s an example using Lightroom.
If I right click on an image within Lightroom and select Edit in and choose Gigapixel AI
A new window will open with the option to select the file type If I then choose the JPEG option and click OK
Lightroom will automatically create a new JPEG file and send it to Gigapixel
I’ll then enlarge my image within Gigapixel and click on the blue button to export my enlarge image back to Lightroom as a JPEG.
Hopefully this will be a similar process within
Photo Supreme
As I say I’m unfamiliar with Photo Supreme so, perhaps someone else within the Topaz community who is more informed about Photo Supreme can be of more assistance
Hope this helps
Hi AND-E, What you are describing is exactly what I am seeing. I have now tried two flows: sending a TIFF to Gigapixel vs sending a JPG. The results are quite similar, so I will adjust and send JPGs in the future. I was hoping to generate a JPG at the tail end of my editing process but I will now create a JPG before I upsize.
I truly appreciate the time you’ve taken here. Your responds are super clear and have addressed my issues directly.
Thanks so much, Mark
Thanks My friend, that’s very much appreciated
