I’m new to Topaz. How long should I expect it to take to process an image with just denoising?
A few seconds.
Mine are taking 2 minutes consistently. My system’s hardware is between the minimal and recommended specifications. The chip type is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650. I’m assuming I’m missing some setting. Any ideas?
Topaz optimizes for the RTX series cards, so I’m not sure what more can be done.
Thanks for the information.
about 1 minute for a 24 Mpix dng or jpg. i8500 with UHD630 integrated(!), 32GB ram.
Check your drivers, sometimes that helps.
Thanks for the additional information-it really helps. It makes sense as my CR3 files are about 28mgs and I have 16gb of ram. I think I’m going to have to look into ways of adding more hardware.
Just checked on another system - about 24 seconds for the same file on an i5-1145G7, Iris Xe (also integrated, but newer than the UHD630), 32 GB ram.
Neither of these is what you want for SuperFocus, but certainly adequate for low throughput denoise/standard sharpen.
David, Thanks; that helps, too. I’m trying to make Topaz work at an acceptable speed at the lowest cost. By the way, 24 seconds is acceptable. I’ve bought another 16g of RAM, which should arrive soon and will take me to 32 gs. I’m also having my entire system assessed to see if there are any other low-cost ways to make it work faster.
FWIW I think the video card is everything. I have a several year old engineering workstation that’s quite fast, but with an old Nvidia K1200 video card. Everything in Topaz takes minutes, not seconds, or at least it seems like it, because it can’t use the ancient capabilities of the K1200. Because I’ll need to replace the entire machine for Window 11, I’m not going to bother getting a better video card right now. That means Topaz is of minimal value to me for the present. Still, I keep renewing because I want to see where they go.
