Every operation crashes since updating to v5.3.6

Trying to do a basic 8x slo-mo (have also tried with 4x).

  1. Updated to recent version v5.3.6.
  2. Loaded 30 sec .mov file.
  3. Selected 8x Slo-Mo preset (which I have used a lot on previous versions.
  4. First several errors when naming and saving file. First told that I can’t use a name more than 31 characters (which I didnt think I was). Shortened name, hit “Export as…” and Topaz says that the operation cannot be done.
  5. Have tried with multiple Files and with different presets. Keep happening.

SYSTEM:
Apple M1 Max
64 GB RAM
Ventura 13.6.3
Topaz v5.3.6

I uninstalled entire program, re-installed, and am experiencing the same issues. Here is the crash report. Thanks in advance for any help. The entire program is unusable since I have updated.
I installed and earlier version, and now that is not working as well.

You are getting a file permission/file path error that most likely happened when running the update. The file path link was broken or the permissions were reset.

Make sure that the export path you are writing out to is readable and writable by Topaz Video AI and that the path exists.

Try adding Video AI to the list of apps with ‘Full Disk Access’ in the macOS System Settings and restarting the app afterward. If this does not work, try clearing the Plist files from your system and restarting it.

  1. How To Delete Your Plist Files
  2. Reboot your Mac

OK. Trying both of those now.
Thank you so much for the suggestion!

I also keep having the same issues on my 2021 mac pro M1.

Allowing Topaz “Full Disk Access” totally fixed the problem!

Thank you so much for your help!

Try the steps above and ensure that the export file path is correct. You are getting the same issue in the logs where it can not open the output location to write the file.
