Error when starting to process a video file

New digitized camcorder file causes error.

I am transferring Video8 videos to an Apple MAC using QuickTime Player to save them.

QuickTime Player has two “Quality” options: High(default) and Maximum. Topaz can process the “High” videos but aborts on the “Maximum” videos. Of course I want the quality as high as possible.

High produces H264 and Maximum produces Apple ProRes 422. It appears that Topaz doesn’t support Apple ProRes 422 for input. Is that correct? Can the support be added?

Thank you.

Video AI can handle and process ProRes files, can you upload the logs for review or send them to the support team directly if you do not want to share them on the forum. help@topazlabs.com

To gather logs, open the app and select Help > Logging > Get Logs for Support, and attach the zip file to your reply.

Kyle,

Here are the logs. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks!

John

Kyle,

Do you have any news on this issue? I supplied the logs yesterday.

Thanks!

John

Still going over them and trying to get some clarification on the errors in them. Looks like a possible issues with the input file format and codec in regards to the audio streams. Trying to get some answers on workflows to resolve it besides just re-encoding the original file to a different format and bringing it in.

Swap the Audio Mode in the Preview and Export Settings Panel to copy and use the MOV container instead of MP4 and it should process out for you.

I used Convert for the Audio Mode.

I just tried Copy and also got an error.

I have attached the logs below for the Copy error.

Under “Application” “Default audio settings” is Copy. “Default container” is .mov.

They are the same under “Import” and “Export.”

It processes for a few seconds then fails. I replied to the email with the new logs.

Kyle,

I have attached a small piece of the video for you to test with. This sample also fails for me.

Thanks!

John

John, I was able to run an export on the sample clip you sent using the export settings of ProRes, Audio Mode Copy and the container MOV and have it work.

Here is that export using the Rhea model on auto. I would suggest trying the manual parameters on Rhea to dial in what you are looking for. Also going from 480 to 4k is going to be tough without some distortion in one jump.

Kyle,

Thank you.

I will give it a try.

Kyle,

That worked for me.

You can close this issue.

Thank you!

John
