I just installed the program to try it. It’s in Demo mode. It won’t process any image, it fails with that “Error Loading Model” bug. I can clearly see that all the models were installed to the ProgramData folder (under main admin), and even on that acct, it won’t process anything. After reading up on all the steps, all I can say that has changed… is the last Nvidia driver update I just installed yesterday, version 537.42.
Only one of the two listed registry entries existed. There were, however, many, many more that the uninstaller missed (removed by manual reg search)
Turned off all protection software. Windows Defender, Windows Firewall.
Downloaded and installed 2.02 from site, but no indication whatsoever that any models were installed.
Same error.
Maybe the next version of Photo AI (or even Video AI), you should add a “Download Models” pull down option… that way, if there truly is any errors connecting or downloading, we’ll get an error msg to pass on to you all.
Do you have antivirus of security applications on your computer that could be blocking the model download? Please try disabling it and run the installer again.
We are currently working on an in-app model downloader in cases like this where the installer download fails.
I left my system vulnerable in every way, shape and form during the install. No AV, no firewall… and I even went back, removed everything… I tried, 1.5.5., 2.0.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2… none of them download the models… and all of them have that same error.
Okay… here’s a screenshot of me, using iObit’s uninstaller to remove the program, one more time. You can see that it removed 70+ registry entries and nearly 6GB of data. The models are there. I watched the installer download, install, and then verify everything. I double checked the ProgramData folder, and all the models are there.
I even tried changing the CPU to the GPU, to Auto… every one. The program refuses to load, not Download, the models it already installed.
I’m at a loss… but, thanks for trying. $200.00 for this … probably not going to happen.
It’s likely not your computer but may be your internet connection. We’ll have an in-app model downloader feature that we are working on which may be a solution for this.
I can follow up with you once that feature is released.
I tried out your company’s Gigapixel AI,… it downloaded the models it needed. When I tested it, it worked the way it was supposed to. And, I can clearly see the models in the Models folder, that Photo AI uses. Just not why the app isn’t calling on them when rendering the data.
Thank you for replying, and staying on top of the situation.
Resolution: Install the program to C:\Topaz Labs LLC, not C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC.
and… install the database directly into the C:\Topaz Labs LLC folder under a new folder called Data… the path is: C:\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Photo AI\Data.
Watched it download all the models, and the demo works again. Can’t save it until I purchase it, but at least now I know not to allow the program to install into the Program Files folder.
Hello,
We just released v2.1.1 which has a fix for the installer not downloading model files. The model files will be downloaded in the application instead.
Please update and let me know if the installer is working now and if the models are downloading in the application. You can update in-app more get an installer here:
Download
Sorry about that, meant to edit the previous post.
It works as advertised… but,
The models installed DURING installation, and not after the application was opened. There are no new pull down menu options to initiate a download of any kind.
Also… I installed it to the default directory, I made no changes to anything.
