This is an Upscale using the absolute lowest redefine creative level “low” and texture at 1 “lowest”
The rock and vegetation is like it wants to turn it into Fur and hair. Despite my input trying various ways to say it’s rock and bushes etc (various attempts). This is not a unique example. I see this in 99% of my images I try to upscale that have things like mountains or cliff walls, rocks, etc.
just has no idea how to upscale this stuff and keep it looking anything like what it’s supposed to be.
The ONLY way i’ve found that works even a bit is to crop into each area directly, render it, and patch it back into the main upscaled image. Which is very time consuming.
The regular upscale also is quite awful and tends to also want to create lines and sharpness where none exists and yet wipe out detail where there actually was some before.
Again what i find I have to do is do one creative upscape for stuff that’s not rock/mountains,cliffs, put on one Photoshop layer, do another with non AI upscale, and mask back in the rocks and stuff over the AI upscaled ones.
Wish there was a way to tone back (again) the sharpening effects or dial back the detail or noise a bit or globally have the AI be not so biased into thinking this a person’s face or cloth or something (where it does usually a decent job except at higher AI where all the faces tend to look like same person with a dimple in their chin)
