Also, I played the resulting file back via VLC on my PC and iMac, QuickTime on my iMac, and PLEX via my Movie Server (Asustor NAS) to my TV. It plays back jumpy on all. Earlier versions of Topaz Video AI didn’t give me this problem.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. My issue does seem to be related to the Variable Frame Rate (VFR) bug introduced in a recent upgrade. I re-installed the older 5.3.6 version of Topaz Video AI and everything seems OK now.
My main work is enhancing my vast collection of DVDs to blu-ray quality so’s I don’t have to re-purchase them (though of course the better movies I continue to buy when better releases are available; don’t ask me how many copies of Casablanca I have).
After a break from doing these, I began having trouble with a recent DVD enhancement and started thinking there was a problem with my system. Thanks to the feedback here, I now know it’s a buggy Topaz upgrade. WTF Topaz? This has been a problem since what, October or November and it STILL isn’t resolved?
Version 5.3.6 works great and despite whatever other updates I’m missing, who cares, this is doing exactly what I need, so problem solved.
