Education | RAW Workflow | Photo AI > Capture One > Photoshop

After using Capture One (v. 16.4.3.2158) on the RAW ARW file on my Windows 11 PC, I export to Photoshop Beta 26.0.0 in PSD format and from there use the Topaz Photo AI (v. 1.3.12) plugin. Some photos result in faint grid lines over the image. Since your site does not accept PSD or TIFF files, I am sharing with you a JPG version two photos that shows the gridlines primarily in the sky. This is particularly strange, since in the first photo, I only processed the subject horses (lens blur sharpening). The second photo was processed just as automated. I’ve also uploaded the latest log files.

Can this problem finally be fixed? I see complaints about this in August 2023 and February 2024, but I am not sure why this is still happening.

I wanted to reach back out to say that after reviewing more about this information about your workflow it would be recommended that you use Photo AI first, then continue your edits with Capture One and Photoshop after.

Capture One is a RAW processing program. By using Photo AI first, I would have to render in a non-RAW format, which would render the RAW-processing null. I think another solution is necessary.

@john.topazlabs or someone else, can you help me find a viable solution?

Hello Jason,

Its actually the opposite. Your current workflow you have, by using your RAW file in Photoshop and using the plugin, actually only sends a layer of your file, a non-RAW layer, and you can confirm this by the fact that it will not give you access to RAW Denoise. This will give bad results.

The recommended workflow is:

  1. Import ARW files in Photo AI, - You will see RAW Deneoise kick in here.
  2. Do batch editing in Photo AI and export as DNG (which is RAW)
  3. Take these exported DNGs and import them in C1.
  4. Then Export to PS.
