Education | Lightroom Classic Plugin | DNG Label Changes In Lightroom Classic Develop Module

Hello,

I recently started using Photo AI 3.4.3 stand-alone to batch-process Nikon NEF files solely to remove noise, which I export to DNG.

I noticed that the label names in the Basic Develop panel changed from the default Lightroom name. For example, Recovery & Fill Light was added, and White, Highlights & Dehaze was removed. I assume the new labels match the original Lightroom labels, but I’m not sure what those are.

I am curious why the change was made and if there is a document where I can figure out how they match.

I will greatly appreciate your response.

Mike.

Hi Miguel.

This isn’t Photo AI changing the information within the Develop Module.

It is in fact Lightroom selecting a previous generation RAW conversation method depending on the metadata within the image file, probably the file date

Are you by any chance Enhancing old images from your back catalogue, if this is the case then yes your Develop Module labels will revert to a previous Lightroom conversion

You can if you want tell Lightroom to override this behaviour and process your older images with the latest version

  1. Open an older image within Lightroom and click on the Develop Module

  2. Scroll down to the bottom of control panel and select Camera Calibration section

  3. Within the Camera Calibration section click on the Process tab and select version 6

This will now force Lightroom to process your older images with the latest version

Giving you back for example the Highlight and Shadow sliders

Hope this helps to

Thank you; this is a big help.

These are new NEF files; the ones I am working with this morning were taken yesterday. I import the files into my Lightroom Classic “Master” catalog, add keywords, and rename them; I bring them into Photo AI to batch remote noise and import them back into the catalog. If I go into my Master catalog’s Develop module, the version comes up as 6 (Current). So it seems Photo AI is making the change. I also tried processing some images with PureRAW and they come into Lightroom as version 6.

It’s not a big deal now that I am aware of it, I may reach out to support to see if they have any feedback.

Thanks again.

Update: From within Lightroom if I Edit with Photo AI the TIFF file comes back and Lr will still be in version 6. Also if I run Photo AI stand-alone but export as TIFF the file comes into Lr and it will be in version 6.
