Why does PhotoAI heavily compress jpgs regardless which tool it uses? If I need compression I want to choose it myself.

The size of the exported file can be smaller after processing in Photo AI, generally due to de-noising the image or cropping in the image. Noise is unnecessary data that gets eliminated.
There is also a “quality” setting when exporting JPEGs, and you can put it to 100 to keep the file bigger.
Keep in mind that these are estimates of the exported size, the real export might not be exactly that size.
Finally, the size of the image doesn’t dictate the quality or the resolution. Our eyes don’t see most of the details anyway and sharing smaller files is easier and more convenient.
