Duplicate images during batch editing

Seems to have been introduced in Version 1.4.1. on a PC

When using autopilot on seven .RW2 Panasonic RAW files through Plig-in Extras. I got 5 correctly edited images and 2 incorrectly edited [brighter] images which were similar to two of the 5 correct DNG files but were DNG files of the missing 2 images with their files names: Sorry, Difficult to explain.

Started with 7 raw images:
11111.RW2
22222.RW2
33333.RW2
44444.RW2
55555.RW2
66666.RW2
77777.RW2

Did an autopilot cleanup of the images using Plug-In Extras [batched] and got:

11111.DNG [Correct]
22222.DNG [Correct]
33333.DNG [Correct]
44444.DNG [Correct]
55555.DNG [Incorrect]. Image was 44444.DNG but had brighter exposure value to the correct 44444.DNG - but had correct 55555.DNG file name].
66666.DNG [Correct]
77777.DNG [Inorrect]. Image was 66666.DNG but had brighter exposure value to the correct 66666.DNG - but had correct 77777.DNG file name].

Thanks for reaching out. We are currently working on a fix for this issue as we know it’s a huge problem with the recent versions.

Images are coming back with the wrong file numbers from “Photo AI” when adding them from Lightroom Classic, this has happened since the last update.

When sending multiple images to Photo AI from Capture one using “Open with” often one file will overwrite many in the batch (i.e. be saved with one of the other file names), making it appear in capture one that I have duplicate images, where in fact, the original tiff is overwritten with the wrong image

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Select multiple images in C1
  2. Use the “Open as dialog” choose Photo AI (click on shortcut)
  3. let Photo AI process multiple images in the queue
  4. Images saved in C1 Capture folder, but some are save with wrong name

Since reporting this, i have to say that my tally of wasted time is up to 14 hours and counting, fixing the mess

@richard.king-7227 I’m sorry you’re having a bad experience with Photo AI.

It looks like you’ve submitted a support ticket about the same issue. Let’s continue troubleshooting via email since we’ll need some more info specific to your computer and workflow.

well since people are reporting the same issue on Mac and Lightroom (im windows / capture one) I guess you don’t need to know my workflow

Which is

in capture one - open in PS, edit, save as tiff
In capture one - select a bunch of tiffs, open in Topaz
IN topaz, batch process,

thats it

After editing in Topaz AI from Lightroom CC, when saving back to LR after processing in AI, images are duplicating and overwriting other filenames when creating TIF files.

E.g. when processing multiple files (filenames 001, 002, 003, etc) random files will create a TIF file with multiple filenames. For instance filename …003.jpg may create TWO TIF files named 003.tif AND a file named 002.tif. And thus it will have duplicated itself and overwritten the actual file that SHOULD be 002.tif created from the original 002.jpg file. I just processed 61 images and only 44 images were correct, the rest were duplicates of other files that were overwritten. So I had to go back and edit individual images in AI to avoid duplication. VERY time consuming. It seems like the bugs get worse with every update!

Our developers are looking into this and trying to stress test some potential fixes. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we get this fixed for you.

In last week groups protos have been coming back to Lightroom with some photos not being updated and other photos being copied twice, with one of the photos having the number changed.

I thought I was going nuts! Same thing is happening to me. I can’t tell if it’s over-riding, or deleting files. If there a solution to NOT rename files?

Not necessary to duplicate posts in other threads when support is already working with you.

@ken.king Thanks for reporting this.

This is a known issue we’re working on fixing. The developers are currently stress testing a few possible solutions.

We appreciate your patience.

I have found the LR plug-in for AI to substitute processed images. This has happened multiple times. I have a Mac Pro (2019) with an Intel Processor, 96GB of Ram and a hefty Video processor. There is no shortage of power.

As a workaround, I have had to re-process the substituted images. This works but it adds a lot more work. I would say about 5-10% of the images are substituted.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Step 1
  2. Step 2
  3. Step 3

Good to hear. I had this problem today again and I was only working on 12 images. A fix is welcome.

I have noticed that the Photo AI 1.4.2 has been behaving strangely.

I was batch processing from Lightroom. After I selected all my files, I batched edit them in Photo AI. At first everything seemed to be operating normally. After the files were saved back into lightroom, I noticed there were a few files that were not processed by Photo AI, and there were duplicate files being saved to lightroom from Photo AI. Anyone else noticed that?

Alan

YES; same problem. But also, SOME photo file names are changed along with the apparent deletion. It’s all very strange. For example 4911.cr2: makes 4911-edit.tif and denoise and sharpen well. But the identical image is also given the name 4913-edit.tif. BUT 4913.cr2 is a totally different image and there is no denoise/sharpened version of it.
I was batch processing 99 files.
