Using the same process since years in Lr… merging from 5 RAW-DNG files in Lr as pseudo HDR DNG file. Sometimes, Topas Photo AI comes handy but since (at least) upgrading to PhotoAI 2.2.1 it seems to use the preview and is unable to save the picture : “Error: Cannot save non-RAW image as DNG” ?!
Original DNG file size should be 8052 x 6039.
I tried several processes : direct importation in PhotoAI or using the PhotoAI Lr Plugin… same results.
Quite frustrating… bug in Topaz or Lr classic 13.1 software ?
For your debug process I uploaded one example of the problematic DNG files.

Same behavior in Gigapixel AI v6.3.3 as well as in the latest release of Topaz Photo AI v 2.2.2.
Curious and really annoying! Has this bug been taken into account?
When I try to open 9383 x 2156 pixel .dng file in Lightroom as a raw file by going to File > Plug-in Extras > Process with Topaz Photo AI, with by overwriting existing file or making a copy, it opens an image which is 256 x 59 pixels!! There is no problem if I first convert it to a tif by opening in photoshop and using Photo AI as a plug-in there, or in Lightroom if I right click on the image and select Edit with Photo AI. I just get a warning that I would get better results if it was processed in RAW. The only problem being it will not process in RAW.
When I tried to save the 256x59 “processed file”, it results in Error: Cannot save non-RAW image as DNG.
Is there an image size limitation in RAW? It appears that it is only importing a thumbnail.
Thanks… you are right, it seems to be the same issue : a DNG file created by LR (Pano in this case and HDR in mine).
File size shouldn’t be a factor (47 Mb DNG)… It worked (works) with older HDR files produced by LR (an older version) and processed by Topaz.
Hopefully the matter will attract the attention of Topaz developers.

Unfortunately, the problem with this HDR DNG file has not been resolved, except that the error message is now “Cannot open file_name image is not spported”. Observation made with the latest version (February 15, 2023) of Topaz Photo AI 2.3.2.
If necessary, I can send you a sample image file.
Best regards
