Discussion | Which Adjustment To Use In This Scenario?

I’m looking for recommendations on the best adjustment to use in this scenario. For example, if I have a photo of a face and I want to highlight a specific area like the temple point lips or nose, which adjustment should I use? Should I use the sharpening adjustment and which one specifically? Alternatively, is Super Focus a better option? The subject photo isn’t out of focus or blurred so it’s fine, but I still want to emphasise a certain area. What adjustment would be best for this? I just hope, whichever adjustment that I am looking at or using, It does not create any artificial artefacts.

Would you mind sharing an example image and some of the current edits you are receiving so the Community can share feedback?

This is the image and this is the area (Marked) I want to make it look naturally sharp.what should I use here Sharpening adjustment ? or Super Focus ?

Since the image is already in focus and you’re mainly trying to give a specific facial area a bit more natural definition, I would generally recommend using the standard Sharpen adjustment first rather than Super Focus.

A good approach would be:

  • Add the Sharpen enhancement

  • Start with the Standard or Lens Blur model

  • Use a lower Strength/Amount setting and slowly increase it

  • Use the Selection/Masking tools to target only the area you marked

I would avoid Super Focus for this particular case unless the area is genuinely soft or slightly missed focus, since Super Focus is more aggressive and can sometimes introduce artificial textures or artifacts on already-sharp facial features.

That said, this is definitely a case-by-case scenario and will ultimately come down to the aesthetic preference and eye of the editor or photographer. Some users may prefer a slightly crisper or more stylized look, while others aim to preserve a softer natural portrait feel. The best approach is usually subtle adjustments while zooming in and out periodically to make sure the enhancement still feels realistic in the full image.
