Discussion | Redefine Cases

I also have the same problem for months now, the program gos ultra slow then it crashes my Mac. I’m using a MacBook Pro M1 chip.
And they thought the company would’ve fixed the problem by now at this point I don’t think they are and I’ve upgraded and spent all this money on this new version I can’t use.

I use also an alternative path. Thanks for your tip!

Just saw the post about version 8.0.3 that had some bug fixes. Installed the upgrade and loaded the image that was taking so long before. Preview is working for selected models. Except Redefine BETA. I clicked on the image for a preview window on the screen. After 10 minutes with no movement on the progress bar, I cancelled. Will probably keep this version but not use Redefine BETA.

Thanks, was having the same crashing issue as others, and this was the answer.
If you don’t have your models and the program files installed at the same path, generative models will crash when used. The installer invites you to install them in different places, and in 8.00 this still worked fine. For whatever reason, it doesn’t now. It may be that the various people having this issue have all placed the 20gb of required models on a different drive to the main program, to save space on c:/ SSD drives, for example.

I completely reinstalled with all files in a single location, and now it works again.

Using 8.1.0.5 of GigaPixel Beta on a MacBook Pro with:
M1 Max
32GB
Sequoia 15.1.1
The generative AI functions have a preview box (S, M, L).
Any area included in the box for preview always produces a “blurred” image in the box after rendering is complete.
This occurs with recover and redefine on .tif files.

Same issue here white dots on the image and a sort of crackle glaze look in smooth areas. Though it mainly happens in the “redefine” option.

Hello,
I have the following problem that Gigapixel 8 takes ages to render even when it is set to x 1 (upscale). So a preview is not possible at first, when I click on Export Image, Gigapixel 8 turns a 200 KB file into a 200 MB file. I have already waited over 2 hours and nothing has happened.

If I leave creativity on 1 or 2, then my PC hangs = it renders, after 5 minutes I’m done. As soon as I change other settings, such as creativity to 3, I can start the render process, but my computer stops working. Because everything runs smoothly… on creativy 1 or 2, my computer is lagging (but its ok for me…) but I want test the creativity on 6. But the render process wont start.

So one indicator is when everything hangs = the render process is in progress…

My computer:
Ryzen 7 5700X
32 GB RAM
Radeon RX 6800 XT

gigapixel 8 is already on the newst update / patch.

What is the problem?!

Screenshot on the rendering process, no cpu/gpu usage…
on creativity 3 or above.

creativity settings on 1 or 2 - high usage of gpu…:

now with video

the first step: creativity on 1 = it start to rendering.
the other step: creativity on 3 = it stucks.

I also have this issue on a Macbook Air M1 which meets the minimum specs. Progress bar on the preview progresses to around 50-60% then crashes, even if I set the scaling to 1x

Since update to 8.03 and 8.1 I have problems with redefine and face recovery.

The Preview and also the final pictures are blurry or with a lot of pixels in divers colors.
Only the cloud-rendering works. I´m working on a MacBook Pro M3 Max.

Preview in “redefine” mode stopped working, the program also closes.

I’m experiencing similar results on my Mac Mini M2 Pro. Redefine will only preview or produce blurred images at creativity levels 1 and 2. However, the output is not blurred when using creativity levels 3 through 6.

Anybody find a solution to this? Happens with every photo. I’ve tried on two different machines, including MacBook Pro with M3, plenty of Ram. Tried on a photo with a resolution of 799 × 533, certainly no monumental task. Crashes every time.

Am having the same problem too.
Am working on mini mac.
Gigapixel and Topaz Photo AI crash and also the plugin for photoshop after usin recovery face.

Hola.
En la nueva versión 8.0.1, el modelo “Redefine BETA” ha dejado de funcionar y genera imágenes desenfócalas (envio un pantallazo del resultado)

I just updated today. I got 2 “Unexpectedly Quit” on Mac OS 15.1.1 on an iMac M3 with 24gb RAM. When I got it to run, Preview is just a static image. Export is just a static image…Gonna reload it and reboot. Didn’t fix it. How do I go back to the old version that worked?

Update. I downloaded Previous versions. 8.0.1 didn’t fix it. Did the same thing. I then updated the Mac to 15.2 and both 8.1 and 8.0.1 did the same thing. I downloaded 8.0.0. That version works and didn’t unexpectedly quit either.

I am having the same issue. I’m on an iMac M3, 24GB RAM. Mac OS 15.1. It was having the issue where the preview is just a static image and export is just a static image. Even trying different images to work on, same results. I updated to Mac OS 15.2 and same issue. I reverted to 8.0.3 and same problem all static images. I was able to revert to version 8.0.0 with the help of a poster and Redefine works now with version 8.0.0, but doesn’t work with version 8.0.3 or 8.1 for some reason. Almost forgot, I started to get unexpectedly quit messages with 8.03 and 8.1.

Similar issue here. Redefine will only produce a heavily blurred image for local image processing unless the creativity level is set to 3. If Face Recovery is enabled, then everything except for the faces will be blurred. If FR is disabled, the entire image is blurred. Running Gigapixel 8.1 on MacOS 15.2. Mac Studio M2 Ultra with 64 GB memory.

After update to version 8 I get unexpected results with Redefine which worked very well in version 7. Now the pictures already show in previews a kind of color noise and same in final pictures.

System: Macbook Pro M3 Max 36 GB RAM

I’m using version 8.1.0 and the Redefine process is resulting in a blurry version of the original image every time, including in the preview. It was previously working no problem. I’ve restarted the app several times and it hasn’t fixed the issue.
