Discussion | How To Use Photo AI When VRAM Is Only 0.1 GB

Version 4.0 crashes constantly on the same hardware where it rarely did on every prior version. Can I revert back to prior version?

Hi.

You certainly can roll back to a previous version

Here’s the link for both Windows and Mac

I must agree. This version is crashing constantly. I haven’t been able to use it. I need revert or what is the point of having this new version if I can’t use it.

@shawn_denz - can you confirm at what point does it crash? Looking at your System, you have only 0,1GB of VRAM, that is very low to use Photo AI, as the minimum VRAM needed is 6GB. Let us know using what tool and we can see if it’s one of the tools that needs the VRAM to be 6GB. Also test forcing CPU to be used on this machine instead of the underpowered VRAM you have: Edit > Preferences > General > CPU. Click Save, retest a file.

@maria.camacho - same for you, as we see your System only has 0,1GB of VRAM. There is a bigger issue though, as we see you are forcing Photo AI to use that Intel 0.1GB of VRAM in your AI Processor setting. This will cause systematic crashes, this card is 60 times too small. Make sure to change this to CPU: Edit > Preferences > General > CPU. Click Save, retest a file.

Both these setups are the same, no VRAM (0.1Gb only) and it will be important to remain on CPU. Also, some enhancements like Super Focus and Dust and Scratch for example, cannot work on CPU and will need the 6GB of VRAM to work.
