Discussion | Competition Entries & AI Content

Hi,

I just wanted to clarify with someone from Topaz that the AI in Denoise is not generative, for the purpose of entering a competition.

The rules for the competition state that noise reduction and sharpening are allowed, but also state that:

If any post-processing method adds new image content to the photograph via AI algorithms or manual intervention, the resulting photograph/image will have contravened the competition Rules and will not be eligible for entry.

Therefore, will Topaz Denoise be okay to use for images entered into this competition without violating the rules?

Thanks

Ed

Noise reduction software has remained largely unchanged for over a decade—until now. Traditional noise reduction tools often blur details or create unnatural smoothing, but our AI-based approach is different. By learning from millions of images, our denoising model can accurately differentiate between real detail and unwanted noise. This allows you to remove noise while recovering important image details, something that was impossible just a few years ago.

The quote from their marketing literature would argue against it being allowed.
