Deinterlace, Change FPS und Upscaling

Hello,
we have some DVDs in NTSC 29.970 FPS and want to do PAL 25P Masters.
Is it possible to do this in one step?

With dioneDV i can do telecine, changing FPS and deinterlacing and upscale. Is this a good idea or is it better do do a hardware deinterlacing + FPS change and use Proteus to upscale the already PAL file?

Assuming that TVAI can do a decent job of deinterlacing (it’s hit or miss for me), I find I get the best results by deinterlace/detelecine first, then using that result for further enhancement. It also saved me from having to do those processes again if I’m not satisfied with the first result and want to try again with a different model.

Ok but you mean all steps in TVAI?
And DeTelecine / Deinterlace and Change FPS to 25 in one step?

Are you hoping to avoid speeding up the audio, or are you hoping TVAI can make the frame rate change without needing that?

I can speed up the audio stream in editing sofware and change the stream in final rendering.
I asked only for quality of the video track.

I do QTGMC deinterlace and 5:4 to 4:3 resize in one, but there is a problem. The first video in my queue gets correctly resized to 768x576 I have set (and saved als default), but with all others videos in my queue list Hybrid does 768x614. I have 130 vids to do that so i’ts not funny.

I tryed several Hybrid builds, but the problem exists in everyone, any tips?

here is the first one in my job list which gets correctly resized, for all others Hybrid does 768x614
Hybrid2
(DAR in the Screenshot ist wrong, but no problem, because I can change it to 4:3 by remuxing)

Then you’ll need to stay away from changing the frame rate in TVAI. I agree with anyone that says QTGMC is the best deinterlacer around. But if your DVDs are not interlaced, just use ffmpeg’s -r to drop frames to the original 23.976. Out put to images in that step, and you can do the rest of the resizing with TVAI.

Yes. The video files are interlaced. So you think it`s the best way to use QTGMC to DeTelecine / Deinterlace and FPS change and then only use TVAI fpr upscaling?

Yes. Hybrid is the easiest way to get it. Ideally you would output to tiff, but I don’t think Hybrid can do that. It can do PNG, but that might mess up the colors a little.

That’s what I was referring to, yes. Obviously if you’re doing deinterlace or detelecine in another app you can’t do them together with a Topaz enhancement. But even if everything is in Topaz I don’t like to combine so many processes that I have to do them all for every try.

ok thank you all!

but when you drop frames, audio must be also fps converted/re-encoded?
