Default preset used despite selecting all files and selecting my preferred preset

Hi! I’ve returned to Topaz and downloaded 5.3.3. I have to click on each import/file, select my preset, then export-as.

When thinking all imports are in my preset, I will then click one and the preset in the dropdown reverts to “none”, which is really weird as you’d think that what preset I just changed it to would stick.

Worse, this is happening on the fly when exporting, since the upscaled video looks like distorted garbage, despite setting to my preset and thinking that all 18 files will go through, only to find 18 mushy-looking video clips.

Can this be fixed?

The team is looking into some issues with the presets reverting and not sticking.

Thanks much! I will get the logs this afternoon, as some renders are finishing right now but I have some more info and goodish news/workaround:

More background info: I had removed v3 and installed v5 fresh. Profile presets were rebuilt manually as well (good refresher and I like the new features! Also, maximum number of input files to be processed is always set to 1, even if I have a AMD 5950x 16-core/32-thread processor and 128GB RAM.)

A big update: I had closed and re-opened Topaz after posting, and opting to do files one-by-one instead of batching 15 files. When loading and starting processing for one file, much to my amazement, the rendering time ETA for processing went from 6 hours down to… 30 minutes - using my preset, though if Topaz wasn’t using my settings before based on the mushy/smeary output… Not sure if that is intertwined or not, but am wondering if there’s a buffer or something that I’m accidentally overstuffing when trying to process 14 files at once (each file appx 24 minutes long) and loading in 4~8 instead might be better regardless…

The workaround: I did try loading 7 files, selecting all, selecting the preset, then clicking “Quick export” without randomly clicking on any other file and that seemed to work as randomly selecting two exported files looked great. Just weird that clicking into a single file after setting all wipes out the settings. The exported files look pretty fantastic from what I’ve looked at so far.

I might try small batches, no more than 7 or 8, and see if this continues, but will get the logs sent once the current set of files is done…

Try these logs. Also saw that last file being processing needed more time to render, despite being of similar runtime to the others, will close and restart Topaz once it’s done.

Thanks!
