Deactivate text recovery

I want to be able to deactivate text recovery on some photos. It sometimes makes photos look a lot worse instead of better

Hi, to deactivate text recovery, within the Preserve Text Tab where it says Auto Selection your just choose either All or None

Hope this helps

Thanks to have a look at this, but I can’t find the ā€˜none’ option. In default AI model I can choose Auto, Low resolution or Noisy. In Model strength I can choose from very weak to strong. At the moment I have set it to very weak, but it’s still not good enough. I have version 3.1.2

Hi, this may help

Preserve Text

The mask is the first thing that appears when the Preserve Text filter is enabled. It cannot be skipped because it is applied directly to the input image and overwrites the other layered filters.

No text is selected by default. Adjust the brush size and mask the text in the image. Click the Subtract button to unbrush portions of the mask and the Select None button to clear it entirely.

Select Text

Choose Select All for images predominantly consisting of text. Keep in mind the masked area is not affected by other filters.

Select All Text

To prevent Preserve Text from automatically applying either select None and don’t use the brush or if Autopilot selects Preserve Text just close the Preserve Text tab

Hope this helps

I have the same issue- if you use Autopilot you can not select ā€œnoneā€ the new release seems to be heavily focused on correcting text- but on my photos I don’t want it to correct slightly out of focus text on football shirts of players who are themselves out of focus for a reason.

Seems to be heavily correcting text and so you end up with a player in he background who is correctly out of focus- but autopilot is correcting just the text- looks very silly.

I batch process 100-400 photos at a time so just want to turn this off at autopilot stage and let the program run- I can;t go through every photo- never had to over the past 3 years- so not sure why it seems a new problem in 3.1 versions.

Would you mind sharing some of these example shots so I can bring them to the attention of the developers?

Also, if you can, please take a screen recording of this workflow so I can see exactly what is happening.

Loom is a great free application for this: Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording

After looking at the info you gave me It looks like I was using it wrong. I was shooting panning photos of F1 cars and when I didn’t nail the photo I tried sharpening it. But the sharpening tool messed up the text sometimes. I thought this was the text recovery, but I didn’t realize I also had to activate text recovery. After activating text recovery and selecting the text the result was much better. But I must add that I find this a lot of work to do this for every photo. Autopilot doesn’t suggest text recovery.

I tried this and this helps.

Thank you
