Dear all,
I would like to have more control over de-rainbowing the footage. Best job does Nyx, but it requires progressive footage and does not preserve the fabric’s pattern. Best would be to have controls in Iris, as there are also much rainbow artifacts in faces and hair.
Thank you in advance
Best regards,
Andy
Andy - I believe the pattern you are seeing on the suit is referred to as a Moiré Pattern. Assuming that this is an accurate prognosis, the Topaz folks may benefit from calling the request “Moiré Reduction” or similar.
I have not tested, but you may find that adding pre-noise may help reduce Moiré from fine fabric patterns.
There are a few mentions of Moire in the FFmpeg Documentation - specifically around using low-pass filters. Many of these relate to interlaced content, but it may point you in the right direction.
