I’m trying to remove some black from the right edge of the frame while also upscaling an SD video to HD, but the crop tool won’t let me place the boundary where I need to.
I’m working on TVAI 6.1.2 on a PC running Windows 10, but the exact same behavior happens when using an M1 Max MacBook Pro. When I try to drag the right crop boundary it jumps from 720 to 654, which is way more than I need to crop. None of the other boundaries have this issue - I can more them just a bit, but the right side jumps way in. Using the controls on the lower left doesn’t help. The cropped area will not slide to the right. Moreover, when I hit the reset button it does not revert to the full frame - the right side is still stuck at 654. I hope this is just user error, but I could not find any detailed instructions on the crop tool. Thanks for any help! logsForSupport.zip (4.2 MB)
This crop tool error has been present since 6 was introduced. Not a solution but a workaround (at least on Mac) is this: When you want to crop the right edge, don’t touch the right edge - crop the left edge instead. Then grab the entire grid in the center and drag the entire grid over to the left. (This workaround is tricky since you have to guess at how much to crop from the left to affect the right.) After you get the right side done you can crop the left side. The whole cropping tool still sometimes freaks out and cuts off the entire right side beyond 654 as you’ve seen. But sometimes this works.
Okay, thanks for letter me know. I didn’t see any posts on this so I thought I might be doing something wrong. And thanks for the workaround. It worked for me on a PC.
Thank you for sharing the experience and details along with the logs. The team is looking into some cropping issues that are effecting users in some situations.
