I have complained about this in the past and will continue to do so. The crop feature does not allow you to only adjust one side at a time. There are photos, especially in Wildlife photography, where being centered in the frame is not always possible. I may have a flying bird which is on one side, or corner, of the frame and I only have to crop 1, 2 and/or 3 of the other sides. I have to crop first in LRC or PS not allowing me to download the RAW file to Topaz.
It is very inefficient, which is why it still sucks!!! You have to guess what numbers to insert in the aspect ratio, then change accordingly. You still cannot move the individual sides, but you must move the image around inside the parameters you select. For me, cropping is a matter of feel as to what looks right, not picking some numbers, then moving the image around to fit inside. I find the cropping function in Lightroom and Photoshop to be much more user friendly.
You don’t have to enter any numbers at all. Just select Custom and the fields will be already populated. Ignore those figures, grab any of the top/bottom/side handles and drag to your hearts content until you get the composition and aspect ratio you want.
My apologies. It was not working when I wrote my original response. After shutting down my computer (had to get away from it) and restarting with a new photo it did work.
Sorry to keep reposting. After playing with it some more, the crop feature does work as advertised, only if you upload a RAW file. If you have to upload a different format like TIF, the crop feature does NOT operate properly.
The crop feature works perfectly for me with raw, JPG, TIF and PNG files, which might indicate a problem at your end. I suggest you raise a support request at the main Topaz site.
