I got a notification of updates, three I was entitled to and the other one I would have to renew if I wanted it. Your update price was ridiculous so I just installed the three updates, I’ve had nothing but trouble ever since. I logged out and logged back in but it has made no difference, I am constantly getting told that the program is unable to run the model. I never had this problem before the last update.
I can help with this. If you are seeing error loading models, this usually indicates the model files are corrupted.
Please reinstall Topaz Photo AI with the following steps.
- Go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall Topaz Photo AI.
- Delete the registry files for Topaz Photo AI using instructions here.
- Download the full installer for the latest version of Topaz Photo AI from here. Make sure Lightroom Classic and Photoshop are closed during this step.
If you are still seeing this error after, please reach out to help@topazlabs.com so I can assist quickly.
I have no problem loading them, the problem is that sometimes if
I decide the auto pilots sharpening is too much or too little and I manually alter the sharpness setting; it sits there for a while then it throws up the “unable to run the model” error. If I let the auto pilot do it’s thing and save the image to Photoshop all goes as planned, when I get time I’m going to uninstall the program and reinstall it, I’m just too busy at the moment.
Please open Topaz Photo AI, go to the menu bar on the top and click the Help > Open Log Folder menu option. Attach the logs files to this thread or in an email to help@topazlabs.com so I can check what the cause of the error is.
Looking through the log files it does appear to have had problems loading the model sometimes, seems odd as I may have already used the model on one picture, loaded in another picture without closing the program then it crashes whilst using the same model, does it load in the model for each picture or should it stay in memory from the last picture it was used on providing the program is not closed in between pictures?

It looks like the processing is failing sometimes. This could be because the graphics cards on your computer are below the minimum requirements.
Please visit this page, select your operating system (Windows) and click “Find Your System Profile”. Send me the system profile so I can check your system specs.

We can try updating the drivers and see if that changes the behavior.
These are the log files from my office computer which is slightly better spec’d than the one in my garage where the previous log files came from, it does exactly the same thing on this computer as well. I never had this problem on either computer until the last update.

I added v1.4 to your account. Could you try updating and let me know what happens?
Please also send me your system profile so I can check your graphics driver.

The newer version seems to have stopped the crashing but it runs much slower, so slow in fact on the lesser spec’d computer it isn’t usable and I’ve gone back to using Denoise AI and Sharpen AI. If I set it to Preserve Input Format my 55.8 mb CR2 file is converted to a DNG file of 302.1 mb, sometimes even larger, that’s 6 times the size of the original CR2 file, what’s that all about? No wonder processing time has gone through the roof. I’m not sure just how to send you full computer specs, the windows system print out is very basic and don’t think that’s what you’re after, the CPUZ system printout is more detailed but it still doesn’t go into as much detain as to tell you what drivers etc are being used.

Are your graphics drivers on both computers up to date? That may be limiting the processing.
It’s good that the crash is resolved. I would recommend upgrading your graphics card for better processing speed.
If neither is an option, you can roll back to a previous version. You can find the previous versions here:
