I have the same issue. It occurs after processing—out of Lioghtroom 13.1 in Photo Ai 2.2 on my iMac 5k 2017 running Ventura 13.6.1 on NEF (RAW) images out of my Nikon z8.
Steps to reproduce:

  1. LR open
  2. choose image
  3. convert the black and white in LR
    4)edit a copy in PhotoAI (2.2)
  4. autopilot
  5. adding sharpen or remove noise or any other parameter doesn’t matter
  6. save result to lightroom
  7. image displays, I think unprocessed by P AI, with text on the image saying:
The file appears to be unsupported or damaged
—>If I run the raw image into Denoise and then Sharpen AI everything works fine, IOW bypassing PhotoAI completely.
NB if I run the image through Photo AI WITHOUT first converting to B&W in Lightroom, the process proceeds without error

Someone else had a similar issue with B&W images. Can you not do the B&W conversion after the PAI processing?

I can do it that way, if I remember to change my workflow. I usually don’t remember and process as BnW, then hit the snag in Photo AI. Then I go through the two step process of DeNoise and Sharpen

I was getting colour artefacts added to some of my B&W images by Topaz, someone said it had not been trained on B&W.

Before AI, I did not have these problems.

I see Topaz has dropped their B&W software.
