Hi!

I have suddenly a Problem always, if I try to use “Recovery” in GigaPixel…
Then the App is directly crashing…

Could you help me?
Here is a log-File:
2024-10-02-14-51-30.tzlog (31.8 KB)

Even after a complete Re-Install GigaPixel always crashes, if I use “Recovery Speed”…

Title line says everything… image load then unable to do anything before it crashes.

Exactly similar to my problem with Topaz AI……

Same here. My computer runs 7.4.4 absolutely fine if slowly. It only has an Intel 620 integrated GPU and 8GB ram.
Now version 8 simply closes down with no error message when processing begins. After the Initialising phase.
Task manager shows near max GPU usage as per 7.4.4 and plenty of RAM to spare.
Have reloaded 7.4.4 and all is ok again.

Any ideas
Cheers

After being prompted, I’ve updated to version 8. Unfortunately, the app closes as soon as I open any image and before I can do anything with it. It all worked very well in the previous versions

windows version.

I had the same problem.
Going to Edit-Preferences and changing the AI Processor from Auto to CPU solved it.
I hope I could be of assistance.

Thanks for this. The program does indeed process the images after changing AI processor to CPU, as you suggested.
There ae however 2 problems, at least for me.
Firstly, processing time is now much longer, I guess because task manager now shows GPU usage at only 19% and CPU usage at 79%.
Secondly, both the processing and saving blue progress bars jump straight to 100% so I have no idea how long things are taking, although, as I’ve said, both tasks were eventually completed.

I guess its back to 7.4.4 until I get a better computer?

Cheers

In general all Topaz programs are quite slow with me as well, I only have 24GB of RAM but over the time I got used to it.
I do however not have the issue with the progress bars. This may be another issue then again.

Same. Mine seems to crash my graphics driver, screen goes black and flicks back occasionally, then my laptop restarts itself. Happened with 7.4.4 too. Had to uninstall and reinstall 7.4.2.

I have the same, is there a solution for it?

I contacted support who were prompt and responsive.
Unsurprisingly, they say my graphics card is below spec (my laptop is maybe 3 years old). They sent instructions to uninstall v.8, clear the registry and provided a link to install v.7.2.1 which I had previously. It all works as before now - just annoying that I’ll have to keep avoiding the prompts to update

I have the same problem. I’ll return to version 7 .
Thanks for helping

I have the exact same problem. Open and image, it initializes, renders faces and promptly just closes.

It appears my 3 year old laptop graphics card won’t support and I have to figure out how to removed V8 and go back to the last version.

I guess this is what’s called planned obsolescence.

Scrap that. It crashes on 7.4.2 as well. And 7.2.1.

Update: One thing I have noticed is that if I don’t have the window minimized, and grab it with the mouse and move it about the screen, it’s super-laggy. This is without any picture loaded in, so it shouldn’t be doing anything. I think the problem is in the Gigapixel UI.

Did the same with Topaz Photo AI and that was fine. It also works fine and doesn’t crash or black the screen. Am on Windows 10.

Mac Version here. 8.0.0

Works out of Capture One / Export to / Processes for a while then changes to saving and crashes.

leaves a bar hanging in Capture One.

Mac Pro 5.1
Dual 3.5
128GB ram
RX 6900 Xt

Wouldnt let me get to that menu until I bought it, nice place to crash.

Will try a version down? seems to be the cure for the moment.

Thanks!

Thanks! I had the same problem and it looks like that solved it. I wonder why Topaz didn’t see this problem before releasing the update.

That did it, thanks Paul

As soon as GPAI 8 finishes initializing when loading an image it shuts down.
