Colors are distorted

When processing an image with Topaz Photo AI, colors are distorted.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. In Adobe Lightroom Plugin-options → Process with Topaz Photo AI
  2. Removing Noise with AI Model “RAW Normal”: Image colors are distorted with pink colors
  3. Removing Noise with AI Model “RAW Strong”: Colors are toot bright.

Topaz Photo AI v1.4.2 on Windows 11 Home, version 22H2
Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz 2.30 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU

This has been reported several times and the devs are working on a solution. I found that tweaking the de-noise slider gets rid of it, rather than just relying on the autopilot.
Please note: you should give details of your hardware and OS when reporting an issue, including GPU if a Windows user.

Thanks for reaching out about this. As @rayinsanmiguel stated, the purple artifact is a known issue and increasing the Strength slightly should prevent it.

For the Raw Remove Noise - Strong model, it can analyze the background with a consistent color and remove color as the model settings identify it may be noise. This is something we are looking into for the updated training of the Raw Remove Noise model.

Could you upload the Raw file so I can review it with the researcher for the Raw Remove Noise model?

You can securely submit your image(s) to my Dropbox using the link below. Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something.

Hi, I sent the raw image you requested for: 2023-07-22_IMG_3850.CR3

Thanks for sending the file. I was able to reproduce both behaviors and will check if they happen in the newest Raw Remove Noise.

Aside from increasing the Strength slider for Raw Normal to avoid the artifact, you can also use the Photo > Edit in > Topaz Photo AI method with your file to process a TIFF which will not have these issues.
