Color not preserved correctly with CMYK files

Hi, files saved with a CMYK profile are not color accurate when opened (and modified) in Topaz Photo AI.

I don’t know if this has been discussed before (or if Photo AI doesn’t expect to ‘work’ with CMYK files), but I thought it was worth reporting.

Right now, my workaround is to simply resave the file as RGB in Photoshop prior to working on it in Photo AI.

Working on a Windows machine.

Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out. Please send me a CMYK file and I can take a look at this issue.

Does the color look incorrect on output or only in the preview?

Hi Lingyu,

Just sent two files.

Original CMYK file and the ‘enhanced’ file after processing in Photo AI.

You’ll see the dramatic color change.

If I convert the original file to RGB prior to ‘enhancing’, no color issues at all.

Thanks

Larry

Hi Lingyu,

In addition, I just noticed the all Topaz Plug-Ins are greyed out (unavailable) to use when a CMYK file is opened in Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.

Best,

Larry

Thanks for sending the file Larry. CMYK files do not work with Topaz Photo AI at the moment because we train our models with RGB. CYMK output is not supported at the moment.

All files should be converted to RGB prior to using Topaz Photo AI to prevent color shift.
