Cannot save nonRaw files as DNG

I only shoot RAW files. Much of my work involves multiple bracketed exposures so I load the sets of images into Topaz AI for denoting and sharpening. Always on of the images will have a preview cut off by 2/3rds. Once all the images have been processed I export them as DNG files but this image with the screwed up preview give the message in red that Cannot save non RAW files as DNG. Once the export for all the images is complete I close the window and the unsaved file is still visible and I process it again and export it which is completed without any cannot save issues.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Step 1
  2. Step 2
  3. Step 3

Would you mind sending in some more information to get a better understanding of the problem you are having with this particular type of image? Please send the following information:

  3. A screenshot or description of the settings panel so I can see what adjustments were turned on.

You can securely submit your image(s) to my Dropbox using the link below.

Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something.

If you can take a screen recording of this behavior so I can see exactly what is happening, it will be helpful to ensure that we can replicate the workflow you are using to investigate.

Loom is a great free application for this: Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording

I have now sent 3 original files and three edited files via Dropbox.

This may be a permissions issue as the X-T3 is a supported file type that should be able to output a DNG file.

Please follow the instructions below to perform a clean install to troubleshoot better why you had this problem with Topaz Photo AI:

  1. Be sure you have fully closed any plugins, such as Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, etc.
  2. Clear any previous plist files on your computer for Topaz Photo AI | Topaz Photo AI | plist Files Mac
  3. Disable any antivirus, firewall, VPN, or proxy software that might be active on your computer. These tools sometimes interfere with the installer’s ability to download the model files.
  4. Ensure that the Topaz Photo AI installer has all the proper settings in your system by going to your Mac System Settings > Privacy & Security tab and scrolling down to the security section. You will want to make sure you have ‘App Store and identified developers’ selected | MacOS | Example of Proper System Preferences
  5. Rerun the installer. You can download a new installer from your account’s download page | Topaz Labs | My Account | Download Page

Let me know how that goes for you and I’ll keep an eye out for your reply.

I have done all that you suggested. There are changes but no solution. If I get a chopped preview Topaz Photo Ai will process ti file and save it. When I get all complete previews one will still come up with the same error message about not saving non RAW files to DNG. You will have seen from the video I sent you that I selected the small previews in my catalogue (ACDSee) and dragged them onto the Topaz Photo AI icon in the dock so I tried loading the files by browsing in Photo AI which brought up a Finder window where I selected the files. This works much better. Finally I tries dragging and dropping from ACDSEE into the main screen of Topaz Photo AI and that also works perfectly.

It therefore seems to me to be a problem with the icons in the dock.It looks like either and Apple of ACDSEe issue.

I hope this helps.
