BOSD on using Proteus since update to 5.3.5

  1. The bug / behavior you have encountered
After the software has been upgraded to version 5.3.5, the program crashes with a BOSD while exporting the file.

The crash occurs when the settings

  • Progressive /Interlaced prog
  • Proteus
  • Motion debur
    has been set.

Input file is *.avi (didn’t tried with other formats yet). I noticed that clips with render times shorter 30 seconds the export runs without problems. All bigger files crashes after 30/40 seconds

Other settings (Rhea, others) runs without problems.

  1. Your system profile
    Intel(R) Core™ i9-14900K 3.20 GHz
    RAM: 64,0 GB
ASUS NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4070 Ti Super (No overclocking set
    ASUS Mainboard ROG STRIX Z790-E

  2. Your log files (Help > Logging > Get Logs for Support)
    logsForSupport.zip (2.8 MB)

  3. Any screenshots as necessary

Have you recently updated or checked for updated BIOS for the CPU?

There have been issues with the Intel i9-14900k setups experiencing stability issues when under strain.

The logs are showing memory errors of the GPU being overloaded and then several that crash. Can you share the system profile to see what the crashes were in relation too?

How To Obtain Your System Profile (Windows)

Also if you remember any of the BSOD codes those can be helpful.

Thank you for your qucik reply. Hope that these information clarifies the issue. Again… only proteus cause the error. Last week I could use the setting without a problem. Today, I had another try after I installed your recent released fix. Now it chrashes after some seconds. The error in the BOSD says

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
ntoskml-exe

I searched the internet and found some hints and tools. I’m not sure if I can trust such tools and if this tool may solve the problem.

Usually this BSOD is caused by a driver issue, double check that you are running the latest drivers for your system.

You can also use this article to help try and troubleshoot the BSOD issues.

Well - I checked all functions for updates

Windows 11 up to date
BIOS up to date
all drivers (Intel, Nividia) up to date
sfc done ok
RAM checked ok
all AI-models in Video AI 5 run without problems

→ except one → Proteus fails

After the BOSD comes up and then getting back to Video AI5 the “trial mode” is set and I have to register

Today I noticed: When I go for first render the process runs until 70/80% . Then an error occurs in the program. After I tried a new render the BOSD comes up.

I’ll contact Intel/Microsoft and ASUS if they have an opinion on this. Finally, everything works fine until I have installed the update. I’m not an expert and perhaps it is a random issue. I don’t know. I have more video editors installed. All editors run without problems.

Perhaps you have one more hint… would be great. I like the AI model Proteus. This model upscales all my old videos to a very good result.

Mea culpa! The synchronisation via the app MyAsus was deactivated in my BIOS. After I activated this feature, the software successfully found new updates for my BIOS. Now, an Intel “feature” is active, and I can render all the files, which causes a BOSD. Right now, I’d like to say this issue is solved. Perhaps we’ll let this report open for a couple of days for more testing.

Summary: BOSD, with my hardware constellation, needs the most recent drivers and firmware. The App MyAsus is a good helper, looking for updates and direct installation.

Thanks for your support. Now, with Proteus’s help, I can “revive” the old memories.
