VEAI has no record in YUV444, only has an option in YUV420 (MP4 with full color range) or YUV422 (10-bit ProRes with limited color range).
Which of these formats gives a better picture quality for further editing - YUV420:FR or YUV422-10b?
The size of the files generated by these formats is very close, suggesting the same quality.
Without getting to sweaty with color space conversions, the best conversion is the closest neighbor of the colorspace your using. but it depends.
YUV422 is less agressive in its decimation of color information so it might be a better bet. When in doubt run tests to compare. some colorspaces will crunch blacks or change saturation.
