Basic edits produce unrecognizable and unusable results

Since upgrading to Photo AI 3.2.2, I have had several photos processed which produce unrecognisable results (see screenshot). This is happening in both JPG and RAW files. In this example, after selecting a crop of a RAW file (Olympus ORF), I applied some basic noise reduction and resizing. After lengthy processing, the result was as seen in the screenshot.
I have never experienced this with earlier versions of Photo AI, running on the same hardware.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Open Image
  2. Crop Image as required
  3. Apply basic enhancements

UPDATE: I’ve now rolled back installation to v3.1.3, and system is now appearing to function normally.

We’ve had a few reports of this being a problem with recent updates, and it is usually associated with the system needing to meet the Minimum System Requirements or associated with the GPU driver. I suspect that your machine is more well-equipped than your father’s computer, judging by the screenshots you sent to us to review.

To investigate this problem better, we’ll need to examine your full system profile information. This will help us understand what might be causing this issue.

I would also like for you to try updating the GPU driver to ensure that you are on the latest updated driver for your card. You can do this by following the steps below:

  • Open your Device Manager

  • Go to Display adapters and double-click on your GPU. Then go to the Driver tab and Update the driver.

Hello John

Thank you for looking into this issue. I suspect you are right about the GPU, as it’s an older machine - quite powerful, but intended for business use, so never had a highly specified GPU. That said, I’ve never had any issues before, and in Preferences, have the CPU selected for all processing. I’ve rolled back Photo AI to v 3.1.3, and everything is working correctly.
I’ve attached the full system specs as suggested, and look forward to hearing what you find.

Kind regards

David

Unfortunately, the information that you have sent confirms that your machine does not meet our Minimum System Requirements. I have included a link to our Topaz Labs Documentation page for your review:

Topaz Photo AI | System Requirements

Your machine’s VRAM only shows 2 GB, but our minimum application requirement is 6GB.

It is recommended that v3.0.4 or v2.4.2 be used, which may give you a more stable application for this machine. You can use the following links to download these installers for your review:

If v3.1.3 is working for you I would recommend staying on that version and if you need any other assistance you can reach out to us here or send and email to help@topazlabs.com.
