B&W photos

I have been working with B&W negatives, scanning them as TIFF files. When I work with Topaz Photo AI (and other Topaz software) they are always converted to a color palette. This is just a nit, but it would be helpful to, at least, convert them to the original palette (B&W) after the s/w adjustments are made or make an option available to treat the photo as B&W.

This can cause unwanted effects. Occasionally, the s/w adjustments made to a B&W photo will result in color artifacts (like prismatic effects) in small areas that can go unnoticed. I found one such B&W photo that had a color tint to one section (the photo was now marked as “color”) and I realized that I had forgotten to make a manual change back to the B&W white palette.

We do convert the files to RGB on import but convert it to B&W on export to match. Can you elaborate as your entire workflow? Is your input image in greyscale or is it a black and white image that’s in RGB?
