Artifacts on images created by AI

[Please describe your issue here. Try to include logs (Help → Logging) and add screenshots if necessary.]

Sometimes, when using Topaz AI. a square of undetermined origin is created by the Topaz AI application. It doesn’t occur when only using Photos on my Mac. If I were to do the image a second time from the beginning, often there is no artifact, or sometimes, one or more artifacts are in other places. It’s absolutely NOT consistent. I can work around it by doing the fine-tuning of the image again. The artifact is often dotted with many colors, in squares (usually) that are about 3/4” x 3/4” on my 27” iMac. If the photos did NOT come through (I did add 3 of them below), please give me an email address or a phone # and I will be certain to get them to you. Using a 2020 iMac, and all software and system are up to date. I’m also using the newest Topaz AI version, but this happened with the previous version as well.

Steps to reproduce issue:
Inconsistent. Sometimes it does not occur.

Processed the image again, after Reverting to Original, with NO artifacts created. Worked perfectly, as it does most of the time. Actually, I do love this software.

To help troubleshoot this problem, I’d like for you to follow the directions below:

Topaz Photo AI | plist Deletion

I will note that Intel CPU Mac devices are slightly underpowered for AI processing and will perform slower. We have some more information on our Topaz Labs Documentation page that I will link below for your review:

Topaz Photo AI | System Requirements

You can also try adjusting your AI Processor to run on your CPU. To do this, please open Topaz Photo AI, go to Preferences > General , and set the AI Processo r to CPU .

Many users with Intel MacOS machines have reported that Topaz Photo AI v3.0.4 or v2.4.2 is most suited for their needs and experiences, as well as better processing times and consistent edits and displays. I have included a link to that those previous version below if you would like to revert to this version for your machine:

  • Topaz Photo AI | v3.0.4

    • Released June 13th, 2024

      • The newer interface that all v3 have, but v3.0.4 does not have the new Autopilot updates.

      • It can sometimes work on underpowered machines; however, it will be slower than v2.4.2

  • Topaz Photo AI | v2.4.2

    • Released March 28th, 2024

      • The older interface will be the fastest version your computer can run

So you believe it has to do with the speed of my 4 1/2 year old processor. That would make sense. I am hoping to upgrade but a new 27” iMac doesn’t even seem to be in the wind at this time. I like the screen space it provides. Sigh!
