I tried to use Topaz AI to simply convert an imagine from heic to jpg. But upon save command, it skipped because no edits were applied. I would rather it detect that the file extension has changed and allowed the app to save a version with the new file extension.
There are plenty of on-line free conversion apps available for what you are trying to do such as Convertio.
