AI Photo 2.1.0 plugin crashes

Select a background layer that I wish to process with Topaz, AI Photo crashes

The app works fine standalone.

Topaz Photo AI v2.1.0 on Windows 10
Affinity Photo 1.10.6

I am seeing the same with Affinity photo 2.2.1

I unistalled Topaz completely, re-installed 2.1.0 and now it works fine again. I suspect there is something wrong when you use the upgrade from within Topaz.

Did the same here, deinstalled completely and reinstalled Topaz AI 2.1.0 again.
Nothing changed, standalone working fine but Plugin doesn’t work with Affinity 2.2.1.
Can I download Photo AI in the previous version somewhere?

Thanks, André

You can get old versions here:

(To give you the full story what I did, I uninstalled 2.1.0, reinstalled the last 1.x version, 1.5.4 I think, checked to see that works. Then I uninstalled that again, installed 2.0.0 - it still worked, uninstalled and then tried 2.1.0 again - you just have to activate Topaz again every time by starting standalone before you try the plugin from Affinity Photo)

I use Photo AI with Affinity 2 and have never had that issue where I have to use as a standalone before as a plugin.

All I can recommend is not to have multiple versions of Photo AI on the PC with plugins linked in AP preferences and make sure the correct plugin is chosen in the preferences.

I downgraded to 2.0.7 and it’s working fine again. Looks like 2.1.0 is bugged.

Thanks for the link!

Cheers, André

Did you have multiple versions of Photo AI installed? It isn’t bugged as it works fine with AP v2.2.1

Hi,

no I have only one version of Photo AI installed. And as said I did a complete removal of Photo AI and reinstalled a clean 2.1.0. and this did not work with Affinity 2.2.1 for me.
After removing Photo AI 2.1.0 and reinstalled 2.0.7 it worked for me. So my conclusion is, that there is
something wrong with Photo AI 2.1.0, at least with the plug in, as the main app is working standalone.

Finally I found the reason behind this issue. There is a folder called “standard folder” for Plugins in the AppData of the User folder. Somehow a version of the 2.07 .8bf was installed in there but it did not get updated. So I removed the file and now everything works fine.
